I LOVE TalkToMeInKorean website and all the instructors
Well, I LOVE TalkToMeInKorean website and all the instructors. I LOVE their free online classes as well. Along with some other books, I have learned so much Korean in less than a year. I've bought this book and My Weekly Korean Vocabulary Book 1 as well. The vocab books series are well organized. But unless you have taken some of their online classes, you'll find it difficult to understand why the sentences are written that way. Even for the very first vocab in Book 1. Some of the grammar in the sentences are from Level 4 or 5 in their online course series. I'd rather learn how the grammar works instead of memorizing the whole sentence. That's how I know how to construct my own sentences. And who can remember all those sentences/phrases anyway. Also, I'd suggest the author putting some side notes about which level which session that grammar structure was from so that readers can go to their site and other materials to read more about it. I had to look at the table of contents to look up where I've read about that before and it got so tiresome. Granted, it gave you explanations of groups of words. But you know well enough that doesn't provide enough explanation to beginners. But bottom line, it's a great book produced by a group of great instructors. It's just not as easy as learning one vocab a day as they suggest because of the sentence structure. I knocked one star off because there is no reference to how that structure was constructed. It is however still a very good book and if you are learning Korean, you should own this series.

Highly Recommend
This book is a great supplemental resource for anyone learning Korean. For me, one of the most difficult aspects of learning Korean through self-study is just getting enough exposure to the spoken language. The audio files that accompany this book are excellent as they repeat the sample word or sentence in several different speeds, completely in Korean. When learning a new language, especially one where the structure is so different from English, it is very important to start to think in that language. If you are constantly thinking the English in your head and trying to translate into Korean, it will be very difficult to ever become comfortable speaking the language. By only providing the audio in Korean and not following with the English translation, this resources encourages the habit of thinking in Korean. The other great thing this resource does is provide grammar and additional translation explanations along with the English translations of the sample terms and sentences. Directly translating Korean to English doesn’t always work, so rather than just provide an approximate English translation, this book also provides explanations to the side that let you know how using a certain grammatical structure, verb ending, etc. gets you to the meaning that is shown in the translations. This helps you move from simply memorizing a sentence to understanding how it was built so you can switch out verbs and nouns to create new sentences. My method of studying usually involves reading the sentences, reviewing the translations and then making a playlist of the audio files and listening to them over and over again as I get ready for work in the morning, during my drive to and from work, etc. Using this method, along with writing exercises to make sure I’m learning the correct spelling of the words and listening to the free TalkToMeInKorean grammar lessons, I am amazed at how much Korean I have learned over the last year. I highly recommend both volume 1 and 2 of the TTMIK weekly vocabulary books. They are useful for beginner to advanced level learners and will help you with your vocabulary, grammar, listening comprehension and reading skills. You do need to know how to read Hangeul, as romanization is not used. Trust me, if you are serious about learning Korean, learning Hangeul is a must! Good luck!

Sehr hilfreich
Ich habe schon einige Bücher von TTMIK und diese Vokabelbücher sind ein muss. Toller Aufbau von einfachen Sätzen bis zu komplexen Sätzen. Neue Vokabeln im Satz werden auch gleich mit angezeigt. Zu beachten ist aber, dass man Hangul lesen kann und die Übersetzungen sind in Englisch.
