Outstanding boots!
It took me 5 pairs before I finally got the right size for these. Most Columbia boots run small and narrow. I know this because I own two different types of Columbia snow boots. They are the only brand I wear for snow/winter for the last 20 - 30 years. I bought these assuming they would also run small, big mistake. If you buy the right size, when you put these on, you won’t want to take them off because they are that comfortable. I normally wear 9-9.5 medium width shoes. I purchased a 10 wide, a half size up from my usual shoe size range, to allow for my feet to have plenty of room with hiking socks and because the toes are on my right feet do not lay flat like my left foot. Your toes should not feel squished in any shoe. I got wide because Columbia are usually on the narrow side. My left foot is a medium width (almost narrow) and my right foot is medium width (almost wide). I also purchased Columbia hiking socks which feel amazing in these boots. Quarry is a very pretty grey color with black, light grey and blue accents. Such a pretty color combination. I will be wearing these to walk our dog on the trails in our neighborhood, which I do daily and are often swampy and even flooded in some areas. I was previously using my Brooks Ghost sneakers but too often coming home with mud, wet socks and saturated shoes. We mostly do trails but also mix in some sidewalk walking, so I needed a shoe that would be good on both. I will come back to update my review should they not work well. Super excited to wear them tomorrow on our morning walk through the woods. Update: 2/20/23 I wore these yesterday for a 3 mile walk/hike through trails and on sidewalks walking a dog. Update: 2/28/23 I have worn these again and had success, no knee or back pain afterward. Not my favorite shoe for walking our dog on sidewalks and not as comfortable as my Brooks but they are waterproof and are saving me on the trails right now. Update: 12/8/25 Loving these boots! I have been wearing them for miles while walking my dog on trails, through puddles, wet grass and snow. They are so warm and comfortable! I have been wearing them every day lately because we have been getting so much snow and everything is staying wet. No heel pain, no foot pain of any kind. Keeping my feet dry and the brooks ghost are being put away for the winter because these are the best for walking my dog through wet conditions. Considering to buy another pair and maybe not even wear the Brooks for walks anymore. Amazing shoes!!!

You won’t find a better boot!
I wore these boots while backpacking in Costa Rica for 15 days and I cannot recommend them enough! These boots were the best thing to have as I hiked across mountains, valleys, jungles, beaches, and farms. I was surprised with how great the waterproofing is, the only way water is getting inside the boots is if the water comes above the sides of the ankles- which will happen with any boot. They withstood extreme downpours of rain and crossing many rivers and streams without my feet getting wet. When the boots did get wet, they dried relatively quickly. Other hikers had wet feet and socks but these boots kept my feet dry. I also found them very comfortable to wear and hike in for 8-10 hours a day. I normally wear a size 9 but bought a size 10 to accommodate for sweaty/swollen feet and thick wool hiking socks. It was a perfect fit! They had great traction on wet and dry terrain but will get logged with mud if you cross it (whenever this happened to me I just kicked or scraped it off on a rock). They’re very durable but still lightweight and won’t weigh you down. I liked that I could easily clean mud and dirt off of them at the end of the day. Also pro-tip! Spray them with gear-grade insect repellent a couple days before your hike or trip with them to keep bugs out of the shoes at night.

Love these boots!
I love these so much, I am going to buy a second pair to stash away for when this pair wears out in case I can't find them again. After minimal breaking in (around the house and on paved streets in my neighborhood), I wore them on a 5 week trip where we hiked every single day. No blisters, sore spots, foot odor, or especially important, no sore knees at the end of the day! I'm 46 and have had some previous knee issues so I've found my footwear makes a big difference. We were hiking in mostly cool, arid conditions in Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico. The majority of the hikes were in the 'moderate-to-difficult' category, averaging 5 miles in length, but ranging from 3-15. I especially felt they protected my toes and soles well when hiking on loose, rocky terrain. I wore Darn Tough wool hiking socks, and sneakers in between hikes at camp and in the car. After returning home a month ago, I started wearing these boots for my daily walk (3 miles on pavement, presently covered with ice and snow). They've been terrific, gripping the ice well and keeping my feet warm and dry. They are still in great shape. I feel they do have a bit of a narrow fit, which works for my foot shape but others may want to consider trying the Wide version if this is an issue. Strongly recommend!

Amazing boot great for Rainy days and trips to the dog park.
I usually wear doc martens but I wanted something a little less expensive, waterproof, and great for hiking with the dog. Right out the box these boots have been great. They are light and I feel grounded. They are flexible and durable. I take the dog to the dog park in these. They lace up nice. I have thick socks that are men’s Columbia brand that I bought on sale from an outdoors store and I have bombas socks. I would not recommend wearing ankle socks with these. My foot feels secure, comfortable, and warm. I live in South Carolina and it is hot here. I typically wear these with leggings. And I have no complaints. My foot sometimes does get sweaty in the shoes and they will cause some socks to pill but just have hiking socks designated to wear with them. The traction is amazing I have a pit bull and he pulls the boots help so I don’t slide around being yanked by a pup. If these shoes ever wear down I will be purchasing another pair

Length is true to size for me...👍
This boot is true to size... I originally followed other reviews that suggested to go a half size up. WRONG move for me. I then exchanged it for my true size, and the length was perfect. After using it for some time, this shoe is comfortable and of good quality. Traction is really good; seams are well stitched (double-stitched); colors are stylish. So far as being waterproof-- I was in a little but of rain, it held watertight. (But I wasn't able to test it through streams or puddles, yet.) Note 1: I did swap out the sole for one with an arch support-- as that makes a huge difference in my hikes. I do thisbfor all my shoes... Note 2: The ankles are extra-padded. It looks a bit bulky at first, but I know they'll flatten a bit-- and they're meant to protect my ankles from impact (from falls, or getting stuck in rocks, etc.) I do wish they made these in a taller height (maybe 8 inches) so I can feel a sturdier ankle support-- especially during strenuous hikes. However, as a day-hike boot-- and-- for the great fit and value of these, I have to say that I'm loving them! ❤️ Columbia is my favorite brand for boots.... They still put out their great quality!

Prepare for a rough breaking in process, but otherwise great boots!
Previous review, titled "This little piggy went to the butcher": My TOES. So close to being a great shoe, but every time you take a step and the part of the shoe above the toes bends, it sends daggers right below your big toenail. I ignored other reviews with this complaint because I figured they just ordered a size too small, but the shoes fit perfectly and I've still worn 4 inch high heels nicer to my toes than these. And yes, I'm wearing thick socks. They also get very hot (I ordered the gray), but that's a trade-off for the water resistance, which is very good. I work on a vegetable farm (if you're walking a shady trail, they may be better temperature-wise), so I wanted something mud proof. For $75, I expected a moderately comfortable shoe with slight water resistance, but instead I got a painful shoe with great water resistance. It's frustrating because the back of the shoe and the arch support are wonderful, and I'm a flat foot, so that's rare. I may try adding padding to the toes before returning them, but they're unwearable as-is. NEW REVIEW: Literally wore the shoes for 3 more days and now they're perfectly comfortable. No more toe stabbing. 10/10 would recommend breaking in your hiking boots before complaining about them.

Actually waterproof AND comfy out of the box!
I splurged and bought these before a trip to Europe, with it being December-January I needed something comfortable and waterproof as I was going to be walking a lot and Europe knows how to let the weather rip. These are the best shoes I have ever purchased! Reliable, very cute, easy to put on and take off, and my feet stayed dry the entire time! I didn't break them in prior to my trip, but that was perfectly fine as they were comfortable immediately. Once I wore them more and they were broken in, I decided I will be investing in insoles as my feet did start to get a bit achey. I think that also had to do with the distance I was walking, though I would like to get more miles in these babies without feeling any pain. I really don't have any negatives to say about these, each time I put them on I was reminded why I love them so much and how I made such a good call in buying them. I have done nothing but rave about these shoes since purchasing!

Amazing!!
I’d like to preface this by saying I broke my foot back in May of 2024. So finding shoes that don’t hurt my foot can be tricky. These shoes are so freaking comfortable!!!! They are definitely waterproof. However with any shoe it does need to be broken in but the quality of the shoe as well as color and functionality. 10/10. I personally got the wide version to have more toe space. Granted it did give me more toe space however the middle where your arch would be on the shoe feels a little tight. But again they need to be broken in. I’m usually a 10 but I got a 9.5 wide. TLDR; great value for price, super comfortable needs to be broken in though.

Disappointing
Had to return them. Right size but for some reason rubbed at back of heel. Tongue also narrow so did not completely close when laced up. I have a large foot. Unfortunate.
