I started with a different brand and switched to this brand due to price per dose. Both products are and were outstanding. I heard about turmeric and decided to read some peer reviewed studies (real science) on a government website. Seemed too good to be true, but with the solid science reported, is sure seemed worth the try. I ordered and received my supply quickly (Amazon Prime) - and took three capsules following food, and with about 8 oz. of water. I was feeling GREAT within 30 minutes and thought "this must be placebo effect!" I went back to do more reading - for about 2 hours. The data supported what I was feeling. I can now go up and down stairs without taking steps one at a time. I have been taking steps one at a time with a handrail for over a year now—but in a short time on Turmeric I can walk up and down steps normally. I can get up from bed without having to wait to make sure my feet and legs will support me - for the first time in over a year. I pop out of bed with no trouble and almost no pain. I had a general "unwell" feeling in my body (truck area) and in my legs that disappeared the first day and has not been back. I feel generally better than I have in YEARS in terms of overall health and energy. My gout and arthritis issues seem greatly reduced overall. (Still finding this hard to believe - and its been a few weeks). I have no doctor's diagnosis to back this next point up but, getting close to 60 I have had symptoms of an enlarged prostrate. It's been that way for at least 4 or 5 years now. After about 3 to 4 weeks on Turmeric (I am now taking about 4.5 grams per day) those symptoms are GONE! I honestly feel better than I have in years. I know that I am just one person and not a double-blind study, but if you are as skeptical as I was feel free to search the National Institutes of Health website, or PubMed (some areas require a subscription), or just order some and see for yourself. The studies I read seem to indicate doses higher than the recommended dose on the bottle (as high as 12 grams a day) without adverse effect. Still, take it with plenty of water and with food; I found that it can upset my stomach if I am not careful to do so. I've told a neighbor about this - and just bought a bottle for a man in my church (I'll await reports back from them). These are large capsules and some folks may have a hard time with the size, but they work for me and I intend on continuing with this brand and dose level unless I see something that looks the same for a bit less. Right now, the price vs benefit make this a clear choice for me to continue using the product. For the scientist out there (like me) who wants to see the way this supplement works, I definitely recommend reading in the NIH website. In a nutshell it seems to promote normal function of cellular communication (proteins released, etc.) on a broad range. For example apoptotic functions are increased which is likely to reduce possible incidence of some cancers, etc. The more I read some of these studies the more convinced I become that I found something that is more beneficial than I thought possible on multiple levels. Thoroughly impressed. EDIT: I'm adding a bit more info... I am not sure of cause-effect relationship here - but my high blood pressure is now normal (117/80 last check) instead of the 150s/90's it has been. Nothing else I tried worked (Doc was ready to put me on meds). I bought this for several folks - and told others: bottom line is for those with arthritis (including gouty arthritis) it did wonders. For one who had sciatica (who would not do anything else about it) and another with Lymes Disease it did nothing to help them. Everyone else (arthritis issues primarily) it helped tremendously.

Been using for years excellent supplement

First, I would just like to say that I DID NOT receive this product in exchange for an unbiased review. I purchased it at full price with the hopes that it would help to alleviate the constant pain I was experiencing while sleeping on my side. I would also like to add that no supplements have ever worked for me, so I fully expected that I'd end up throwing this in the trash. With that said, I'm in absolute disbelief that this Turmeric Curcumin completely eliminated the pain that I was experiencing at night. Due to a diagnosis of positional sleep apnea, I've been forced to sleep on my side for the past 6 months. The pressure pain that I've been experiencing has been unbearable to the point of keeping me up most of the night. I've had extreme pain in my arms, legs, hips, etc. The pain has been a direct result of the pressure that I've put on all of these areas due to the side sleeping. Up until now, I've tried using Alleve, other NSAID's, as well as non NSAID formulas. Nothing worked until I tried the Turmeric Curcumin. I take 3 capsules a day. My wife thinks that I have Fibromyalgia in addition to the sleep apnea, but this won't be known for another 4 months, as that's how long I have to wait to see a Rheumatologist. At any rate, regardless of what condition or conditions that I have, the only thing I know for sure is that this product is a miracle. I don't trust any reviews that I read on Amazon for supplements, as the overwhelming majority are those from people who received the product for free. I was desperate, so I purchased this. For me to pay full price for a supplement and have it actually work, is astonishing. This supplement is a life saver, plain and simple. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Update ~ 06/01/2016: These continue to work so well for me that I just placed an order for 2 more bottles. I've experienced absolutely no pain whatsoever since starting on them several weeks ago. I continue to be astounded by how well they work.

Turmeric has been used in Asian food forever it seems, and I have been hearing the hype about its impressive anti-inflammatory effects, as well as being a cancer preventative supplement. Several of the wellness gurus have recommended this brand of supplements, so I really wanted to try it, and was happy to receive it at a reduced price to review. I have tried one other brand of Turmeric as well as just adding the powder to my coffee and other things, and have had so so results. This is the first supplement that I have tried that actually worked as an anti-inflammatory for me. I also have let my son take it for the last week, and he thinks it helps his ankles not swell as much after running. At any rate, neither of us has experienced any side effects that some other supplements are known to cause. Curcumin is the active ingredient of turmeric, and is also found in limited amounts in Ginger. It is also thought to be an effective metabolic syndrome band-aid. I definitely wanted a supplement with Black Pepper which is thought to greatly enhance absorption. I think that the absorption rate of a curcumin supplement is critical to its effectiveness, and not all supplements are created equally. I was impressed by the Doctor Recommended Brand because of the great reviews and because of the reputation of the company. I am happy with this supplement and will continue to take it. The Doctor Recommended Brand of Turmeric contains 95% Curcuminoids with Black Pepper Extract (Piperine--for absorption) in 750mg capsules. Okay, I have been having problems with pain in my feet, knees, and hands over the last few years.... Every time I got out of bed or a chair my body complained and I dreaded standing up. In addition, I had broken my right ankle last spring and experienced swelling of the ankle after surgery... Just to get through the day, I had gone through dosages of ibuprofen; arthritis strength acetaminophen; and lately Aleve... I had seen articles on Turmeric and figured since it would not impact any of the meds I have been taking I would give it a try... I am a skeptic and figured the articles were hype.. My first dose was on a Sunday.... two capsules in the morning. On the following Wednesday I was awoken by Mother Nature at 5:30 AM... I climbed out of bed, went to the bathroom and out to the kitchen for a glass of water... went back into the bedroom for a couple more hours of sleep... I laid down and as I tried to go back to sleep, it dawned on me that I had gotten out of bed, walked all over the condo and gotten back into bed with out my normal joint and muscle complaints! It surprised me so much that I was wide awake and got dressed and went out for an early morning walk - still no complaints from the old body! A week later, I eliminated the doctor's approved daily Aleve dosage and I am not experiencing any pain! In addition the swelling in my right ankle is decreasing... I am of retirement age.... and it feels so good to be able to get in and out of cars, bed and chairs with out any complaints or old lady noises... I selected this product for two reasons: It is in capsule form (body system digests them better than solid pills) and it was listed as a top seller on amazon.com Thank you for giving me my life back!
