Does it have a smell?

Smells like stale cigarette smoke or an ash tray. Will not buy again. I couldn’t figure out what was causing the smell for months and it was very obnoxious. One day, I got a wiff just as I was applying it and then smelled the applicator and all of the bottles. It was definitely the product and I immediately threw it away. Gross.

how often do you use if you want to grow new hair on top of head? I've also read it's best to mix it w/ oil like argan, olive, almond? which is best?

I use it twice a week for thining hair not sure about growing hair.I use it directly on my scalp and I do not mix it with other oils.I have noticed that I'm not losing much hair after the use of castor oil.

Just received the black Jamaican castor oil. Is it supposed to be thick like maple syrup? I thought it would be way more watery and easier to spread.

Yes it’s very thick. Don’t know if you are using in your hair but what I do is put some in my hands and rub together than massage into scalp and hair.
