what product did you use to give the color you want , after the conitioner dried?

When I start a project I try to stay with the same manufacturer and use either oil or water base products based on their recommendations. I generally use oil based stains after conditioning because most times there is less sanding after application. I never start with oil conditioner and then use water products after that.

I already stained something and want to apply another coat to darken but it keeps getting blotchy. I tried sanding with no success. Will this help?

Sand, sand, sand. Then sand some more up to at minimum 240 grit.

Yes. Allow at least 72 hours after applying conditioner before applying Varathane. Varathane is vary temperature and humidity sensitive. If you can not comply with the temperature etc. requirements stated in the directions, please telephone rust-Oleum for advise or do not use poly-urethane.
