Fun workout, especially with two people
I have never attended a Zumba class nor have I ever followed a zumba session on video. I have been interested in Zumba for quite some time and finally decided to get this. I am glad that I did! The moves are fun, and I enjoy the challenge of moving my entire body, not just the hips, in ways that I am unaccustomed to. I am not one that is skilled in the art of any type of dance, but I do so adore watching people dance and have always felt a strong desire to dance. I think this is a wonderful game to have some fun with. I especially enjoy doing it with my sister, who has attended Zumba classes and says that this is very much like her experiences in the classroom. You just kind of start and go with it, and try try try...not to match what the instructor's moves and wonderful foot work and turns look like ect. but to try and just keep moving and smiling no matter how much of a fool you feel or look! Don't pick yourself apart for not looking like an experienced dancer, everyone starts as a beginner, so we've all been there, or here...or, wherever! You have to be willing to have fun with it and not take yourself too seriously. Oh sure you can pick the game apart. The band on the waste tends to come off of the area I originally fasten it around (I have bigger hips and thighs) and ends up moving up my waste and bouncing around my stomach! Hah! But, after fighting my urge to stop and mess with the band over and over, I found that since the wii remote is still wiggling it doesn't seem to make a big difference on what the game is picking up. Regardless, you are still moving, you are still attempting fast movement and hip wiggles and foot work (mine is atrocious!) that you otherwise would not be doing. Also, the practice mode- it is pretty sensitive and if you are wearing the wii remote it signals that you have 'mastered' a move and continues to the next. Think of the solution, not the problem. This is an EASY fix. Where is imagination? If you are trying to get a move down a little better, just take the band off! The character on the game is still moving for you to follow, if you are simply trying to get some foot work down more or perfect something, why does it even matter if the band is on? When you get it down, just put the band back on or simply wiggle the remote around till the practice session moves to the next move. Personally, i think practicing the moves took away from the fun of it all and made me start to nit-pick myself and feel negatively about how I fell short of this move or that. If you feel bothered, don't do the practice. There simply isn't any practice in 'real' zumba class, the dancing is the practice, helloooo. But enough of my rant. It is nice that the practice is offered for those who feel ready to try and perfect their moves. The point? If you are willing to have fun, and put your nit-picking aside to just wiggle around and enjoy, this game should bring you some wet t-shirts and a whole lot of smiles. A sense of humor helps :). So go ahead, laugh at yourself, just don't stop moving! If you try it out, and you feel discouraged, try doing it with a friend (hopefully one that won't be a negative nancy about every little thing they don't like) or a family member. I found that once you let yourself experience the joy of something and you can laugh with someone else about it and just go with it, it can reinforce a positive attitude instead of whatever initial negativity you may have. Fun game to have!

Losing weight & feeling great!
I LOVE this game! The music, dance steps, layout, the wii controller goes in the belt & dance-exercise those pounds away! I'm already losing weight & getting a little toned too! It doesn't feel like I'm working out - just having fun & learning basic dance steps. I consider this to be high-impact aerobic exercise. I started out with Wii Fit, then Just Dance 1 & 2, then Wii Golds Gym Dance, & then Wii Zumba. I feel I bought & played these in the correct order over the past few months. While my parents (ages 71 & 84) love Wii Fit as much as I do, they think Golds Gym Dance is good but don't care for Just Dance or Zumba at all(too fast & difficult for them). However I thoroughly enjoy Zumba. I'm 41. My Step-Daughter (30) & 2 of my Step-Granddaughters (9 & 10) also enjoy Wii Zumba. My advice is to copy the dancers the best you can & you'll pick up the steps eventually. I'm not a coordinated dancer & I certainly wouldn't want to do Zumba at a gym around others! I'd probably crash into the other people! However, I feel confident dancing along to Zumba in my family room (with all the furniture moved out of the way). I have actually picked up a lot of the steps & have just started the intermediate dances - which are still very new to me but that's ok - at least I'm getting a good workout. The only thing I wish I could figure out is how many calories I'm actually burning (I'm guessing 500-ish for one hour). My advice to those Zumba beginners: Wear a comfortable workout outfit - sports bra is a must & wear socks & sneakers. I never use sneakers for my other Wii workouts but for Wii Zumba: I always have to wear sneakers or else my feet hurt after a half hour. Make sure you have a large 30 oz. of ice water close by & a terry cloth towel. Trust me, you'll be very thirsty & perspiring very quickly. Have fun with Wii Zumba in the privacy of your own home.

Fun and energetic workout even for someone with 2 left feet!
I am not a dancer, and often feel like I have 2 left feet. But I love the Zumba fitness for Wii Workout and found it easy to follow as a beginner. It is so fun - too fun to be a workout, but it is a great workout (can really feel it in my calves), and the time goes by so quickly! I thought the 20 minute beginner's workout would be lame, but it had me sweating, and better yet, it went by so fast! For a longer workout, I do two 20 minute workouts, or I pick the single songs at the end of a 20 minute workout to make it longer. After two weeks, I am mixing the beginner and intermediate workouts and really enjoying them. It's challenging for a non-dancer as me but not overwhelming. In fact, I find this easier to follow than the Just Dance games. I feel like this workout will keep me challenged and not get boring as I learn the many steps to eventually reach the expert dance routines. Note that in order to unlock the various locations on Zumba fitness (factory, rooftop, etc.), you must dance to Zumba party first before going to the Zumba classes. Great purchase if you like to work out at home and want to have fun while you're sweating!!

I had such high hopes...
I have been considering this game for months and was so excited to finally get it. I haven't tried a Zumba workout in person yet, but they look so fun and exhilarating that I hoped to get a taste of the same experience at home. I have been severely disappointed. The tutorials are horrible - when learning the steps, the game picks up the movement of the remote secured in a belt on your hip and as soon as the game thinks you've mastered the step, it increases the tempo or adds arms/hips/steps. Unfortunately, any movement registers, not just the correct one, so when practicing a step, the game believes you've mastered it and moves on. I ended up starting a tutorial then setting the remote on a table so I could practice until *I* felt comfortable in the movement; then I'd shake the remote and set it down again to practice the increased tempo or movements. I was also upset to find there is no verbal or visual cue of a change in steps when completing a workout. The other two workout games I have (Gold's Gym Dance Workout and Just Dance) both show an animation or icon of the upcoming step change so the player has a chance to transition smoothly. I'm still excited to try Zumba in person or on DVD, but the Wii game is not for me. Just Dance is still my favorite workout and I want to pick up Just Dance 2 soon as well.

love, Love, LOVE this workout!
I've been working out with Wii Fit Plus for over 2 years now and really like it. To keep things interesting, I added Just Dance earlier this year, and most recently I added Zumba Fitness. I'm in good shape but this workout is taking it to a whole new level for me. And notice that I'm not calling it a game, 'cause Zumba Fitness ain't playin'! It is definitely challenging. I've been mixing Zumba in with my other workouts for a couple of months now, and I'm still working on the Level 1 classes. While my bff was staying with us, she did some of the classes with me, and they completely and totally kicked her @**! Her first class, she needed a break after the warm-up! I thought her first class might be her last, but she really liked it and kept coming back for more. It's a good idea to go through the tutorials before doing the classes until you're familiar with the steps, because the classes are fast-paced and many of the steps are complex and challenging. Of course, the more you do them, the easier they get for you. Also, one thing that wasn't clear to me initially is that the color of the instructor changes according to how closely you mirror the her moves, from red to green. One thing I'm not crazy about is the belt accessory that comes with the disc. You have to take the remote out of its silicone jacket and even then it's a tight fit and hard to work with. I just use a wide belt or scarf slung low on the hips and tuck the remote in that. Works fine. I wouldn't recommend Zumba Fitness for someone who is out of shape and just starting to workout, but if you're ready for the challenge, Zumba Fitness can help you get to the next level.

ZumTASTIC!!
This game is EXACTLY like going to a Zumba class!! Of course, those new to Zumba may be a little off without verbal cues from the instructor, but that's just Zumba with it's 'On The Job' training. Just jump in, look for the hand cues, and have fun! The only things I don't care for are: * The font's used throughout the game menu is too small all around. This game is really for adults with aging eyes, not kiddos. * The graphical layout of the game menu is boring including the workout scenes are boring to watch after a while. * The leader's outline is sometimes so blurred that I can't tell what the body/leg/feet movements are actually doing. I suggest that the manufacturer reviews Just Dance 2 and improve on that set-up. * When playing in "Solo" mode, when you just want to pick specific routines, first, the font is too freakin small that you have to have binoculars to just read the darned TV, AND... when you flip through the selections/routines you should be able to hear snippets of the song when you land on it. * No point and click!!! ARGH... that's the most irritating thing, having to rely on the controller. If the above mentioned were corrected, I would give this game an overall 5 star because it will REALLY kick your cardio up and I LOVE Zumba!!! Don't make the mistake of trying to do this barefoot, like I did... you'll either end up with blisters on your feet, or bust your behind on the floor! Have fun!

FUN N SHEDDING THE POUNDS!
THIS IS SUCH AN AMAZING Wii FITNESS GAME. IT IS SUPPER FUN AND IM SEEING A DIFFERENT IN MYSELF GREATLY. I HAVE THYROID PROBLEMS AND MY METABOLISM WAS NOT VERY GREAT. I STARTED PLAYING ZUMBA FITNESS 4 TIMES A WEEK TWO 20 MINUTE CLASSES A DAY. THE DAYS THAT I WAS BUSY I WOULD DO ONLY 20MINS. I STARTED ELIMINATING LITTLE BY LITTLE THE STARCH OUT OF MY DIET ON WEEKDAYS AND VERY LITTLE STARCH ON WEEKENDS. I DRINK A LOT OF WATER. DIETING IS NOT VERY HARD. IM JUST TRYING TO BE A LITTLE HEALTHY AND LOOSE THE POUNDS I GAINED SINCE MY THYROID PROBLEM. WITH THIS GAME MY METABOLISM IS REGULATING BELIEVE IT OR NOT! I SWEAT WITH THIS GAME LIKE I NEVER DO IN THE GYM! AND WHEN I AM NOT PLAYING AND I AM DOING OTHER THINGS I AM SWEATING EASIER. ALL BECAUSE GRADUALLY MY METABOLISM IS REGULATING THANKS TO THIS WONDERFUL GAME! IT IS SUPER FUN. YOU CAN PLAY IN PRIVACY OR HAVE YOUR FAMILY JOIN YOU. THEY SUPPORT YOU, THEY ARE ACTIVE, AND KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED. WITH THIS GAME I AM MOTIVATED TO KEEP LOOSING POUNDS AND IT HAS BECOME A NEED IN MY DAY. IF I DONT DO IT I FEEL GUILTY. ITS A GREAT INVESTMENT. THE INSTRUCTURE MAKES THE MOVE UNDERSTANDABLE AND SHE TELLS YOU WHEN TO DRINK WATER AND HOW GOOD YOU ARE DOING. I ALSO USE A TRIMMING BELT BY GOLD'S GYM AND MY ABDOMEN AND BACK SWEAT LIKE CRAZY. IN 20 MIN. YOU CAN SWEAT UP TO 900 CALORIES! I HAVE LOST 5 POUNDS IN A MONTH. SLOWLY BUT I HAVE. THIS IS THE HEALTHY AMOUNT YOU SHOULD LOOSE IN A MONTH SO IT IS PERMANENT. WITH THE WII, THE MOVEMENTS MAY NOT BE 100% DETECTED BUT AROUND A 89% I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING REGARDLESS. ITS A MINIMUM FLAW THAT WONT PREVENT ME FROM STOP USING THIS GAME. I TOTALLY RECOMEND

Excitement for a limited time
Overall summary: This game is really fun, you burn a lot of calories, but it gets old fast and is no longer motivating me to use it. More details: -Setup - as other users have said, the tutorials are annoying and frustrating. Use them minimally to get a sense of what is coming, but do *not* try to learn or perfect each move by these. Skip to beginner game play for that. -Routines and game play - These are lots of fun. The music is catchy, the routines have a number of variations on the different steps, and there is a good range of moderate to high-intensity exercise you can get out of them. They do take some practice to get them totally right, so there is a benefit to repetition. However there is a very limited number of routines. There are only a handful of beginner (which is fine, because you tend to move on from that quickly), and only about a dozen intermediate and a dozen expert routines. Each time you go to a "class," it is simply a different combination of these few routines. Completing a zumba "party" unlocks new classes, but these classes are not new - the background graphics are different, but the combination of routines is identical. Thus there are only about five unique combinations under the 45 minute classes for each level. -Scoring - You do not earn points as you go along, and there are no calorie tracking options that I have found. Instead, you gain "energy" and "level-up" for correctly doing the moves. You are seemingly randomly assigned a point score at the end based on how much time the glowing instructor was red, yellow, and green. I could live with this, as in theory the more you practiced, the better your score would be as you did the routines better. However the sensor does not do a very good job knowing exactly what you are doing. I am constantly readjusting its position on my hip bone to make sure it is in the right place, and yet sometimes doing something perfectly does not result in a green instructor. Conversely, the "cool down" routines have very limited changing motion, so the instructor stays mostly red. As you lose "energy" points when the instructor is red, you would be better off keeping your score up by random motion to a beat. I have actually done this and scored higher for *not* following the instructor. So it seems like points are added for general bouncing to a beat rather than precision in dance moves. This does not motivate me to keep trying to do it better. I have had this game for two months, and for a time, I looked forward to playing it most days. Now I have exhausted the routines, and it seems I've gotten every new thing I'm going to get out of the game, and don't particularly want to play any more.
