Funko Captain Malcom Reynolds
I just received this package in the mail after a longer than expected delay by Amazon for my preorder. But things happen.Ok so this figure of Mal is almost great, but just not all the way there. I am excited to finally have Firefly action figures. Years ago when the Serenity movie came out they only released a few figures that where ok but not great and even then they only made Mal, Jayne and a Rever.Lets start with the*Sculpt of the figure 9/10.I really like the sculpt and compared it to the photo and while it is not a perfect likeness but it is still a great face sculpt and the body design is in the classic Mal with Duster and red shirt. The duster is a softer leather to allow posing of the figure. Both hands are sculpted to hold either weapon. There is also a holster on his right hip that will hold the pistol. ( someone else in my home put the rifle in the holster, it fits but I think it looks weird )*Paint Application10/10 No bleed of paint on my figure, the tons are good and the shading wash is excellent.*Articulation18 points of articulation - Ball joint for the head, shoulders and elbows,Torso pivot, double hinged knees, wrists rotate and swivel, Hip joint, thigh swivel and feet pivot forward and back. Some of my joints where very tight, some ok and the right knee was very loose but not enough to cause a problem with posing the figureThe right hand was extra tight so take care when trying to rotate the hand.* accessoriesMal comes with both his pistol " Liberty Hammer " and Winchetor rifle.Over all I would highly recommend this figure to any Firefly fanEDIT - Mal's right hand snapped off moments after I submitted this post.

Awesome
The paint job and the design is awesome. Joints at the neck, sternum, shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, angles, hips. The actual casting of the pieces is a little sloppy so some of the joints don't work perfectly, but it's totally workable and a great deal for the price. It also looks more like Mal than any other action figure I've come across.

Firefly Rules!!
Being a hardcore Firefly fan, couldn't resist getting this action figure. It has great detail and really looks like Malcolm Reynolds. Funco did a great job in designing him. I wish they made a Zoey action figure that looked more like her! They nailed this figure and I am glad I bought it..

Funko Legacy Firefly Captain Malcolm Reynolds
Funko Legacy does it again, kind of! Here we get the great license Firefly from the short lived yet long loved Fox cancelled show that ended up getting a film (Serenity) and a comic series. Now I’ll rundown the figure and some of the issues with it.Like the Funko Legacy Game of Thrones figures, quality control is an issue, at least with this first wave. My Captain Tight Pants (Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds) came with the peg in his right hand a tad bit too long. I had to pop his hand out to cut down the ball at the end of the peg to get it to fit further into his wrist hole. Peg on the left hand is so tight, I can’t turn his wrist, the peg is starting to tear. Paint apps are pretty good in general, though I wish they hadn’t used a gloss finish for the shirt and kept it matte. Knee articulation like most of the Funko Legacy figures is hit or miss, either too loose to too tight. Now if you want to get the figure to hold the rifle which can be tricky, I had some luck feeding the barrel through his left hand until it got to the stock. Now it sounds like I have a lot of issues with this figure, and I do, but I still also really like it. The two guns are painted well, the overall sculpt is great, the head sculpt in particular is a very close likeness to Nathan Fillion who played the character. This figure retails for $19.99, but you can get most of the Funko Legacy GoT figures for $10.99 right now, so I imagine in the not too distant future you’ll be able to grab this brown coat for a reasonable price, I know I’ll get a 2nd one, especially if this one falls apart. If you’re a fan of the series and film, you should get this. Just beware of qc issues and maybe take a blow dryer to the limbs out of package so as not to break anything. This figure comes APPROVED.

Looks amazing, careful if you play with it.
Amazing! I’ve never been a “mint in box”, so first thing I did was open and pose. Joints were tight, I popped the knee in the process of set up, so be careful if you do the same. Otherwise it fits the shelf nicely, now if only I can find the proper table.

Satisfying replica...
Got it as a birthday present for my younger brother who is in college. He tells me that a lot of his classmates were jealous because they were Firefly fans. Scoping out the Jayne figure for my other brother’s birthday in a couple of months to keep a theme going...

Amazon was great, but the figures are no good.
I'm not very happy with these figures. The production quality is severely lacking. Originally, my first Mal arrived damaged (I also bought Jayne). I assumed it was damaged during shipping and Amazon was wonderful to deal with to replace it. After the replacement arrived, I realized that these figures are just poorly constructed. The joints are often stuck, but also very flimsy, leading to a high probability of snapping and breakage. I had planned to get the whole crew, but after getting hands on the two I have, I'm going to save my money.
