Created by a teacher, Bob Books have been helping children learn to read for more than forty years! All-new illustrations make this box of decodable books even more appealing to a new generation of readers! With playful stories, silly illustrations, and a phonics approach based on Science of Reading research, Bob Books keep young readers' confidence high, leading to continued success and a love of reading. Your child will soon join the millions of happy kids who say, "I read the whole book!" ® Sight words, also known as high frequency words, are common words that appear again and again in children's reading materials. Knowing these words “by sight” is essential for reading fluency. Kids learn to easily recognize 30 of these words in Bob Books Sight Words - Kindergarten . Each story introduces three new sight words commonly taught in Kindergarten. The rest of the words in each book can be sounded out. With plenty of repetition within each story, and pictures that support the text, your young reader will quickly master early sight words! Inside the box you’ll find: 10 small, hilarious, easy-to-read books: 12 pages each, 10-27 unique words per book, sized perfectly for little hands 30 two-sided flashcards to practice the sight words in the set A parent guide with tips for helping your child learn to read Each book includes: 30 new sight words: 3 new words per book Decodable text: Mostly three- and four-letter words with short vowels that can be sounded out (hid, jet, frog) Simple sentences (The sun goes down.) Friendly, simple illustrations that add fun and do not distract from the words Guided Reading Levels: B, C | Lexile® Measure: 10L – 140L | Bob Books Level: Stage 2 | Ages: 4-6 | Grade Levels: Kindergarten, First Grade Review: Love these books - These books are amazing and have helped my 6yr old become a better reader. she reads them almost everyday. They are easy and short so she doesnt get discouraged. This is our second set of these books Review: Great for Level A readers! - My son just finished a Young 5's program and is out of school for the summer. He was beginning to learn sight words and I was told he was a Level A reader. It wasn't until summer vacation actually started that I realized I didn't really understand what that meant. I thought it would be simple to go to the store and pick up some books for him to keep up with his newly acquired skills during summer break. I had tried purchasing other learning-to-read style books and they were too advanced for him despite it being the "earliest" stage. Insert BOB Books. My son can actually somewhat read these books and is learning fast from them. The back of the books in this set actually say they are Level B and C books but these are perfect for him to build on his vocabulary. I especially love this set because it comes with flash cards of sight words found in the stories. On the opposite side of each flash card has a picture and sentence that coordinates to the picture, using the sight word. It comes with 10 books and each book introduces 3 new sight words. The sentence structures are perfect, using a lot of the same words frequently in the same book, but in different orders so they aren't reading the same sentence over and over. They are seeing the same words in different orders of the sentence, creating familiarity and confidence, along with other commonly seen words. This is our first BOB Books purchase and I will definitely be getting more, although I wish they all came with flash cards (not all sets do).

The BEST way to teach sight words
These cards are a wonderful way to cement sight words into your child's memory. Before I have my little one read one of the books we discuss the sight words in the story and IF the sight words can be decoded phonetically I have my child practice that a few times. Then I have her read the stories, lastly we go through the flash cards by flashing the sight words and then reading the sentence on the back. I love that the sight words are all context based. It really helps kids remember and understand sight words in a fun way instead of boring rote memorization. Consistency is key. Do it everyday until mastered. Read 2-3 of the books and go through the flash cards. Then move up to the next level

Very Helpful!
This is a good start to reading. As an adult you may look at them and think "There is no real story here" or "This seems a bit too simplistic" but when your young reader is just starting to sound out words these books are great. They can work their way through the words one by one if necessary and the books are short enough that its not an insurmountable task. I suggest getting all three series that go together for the age/grade. BOB Books: First Stories Beginning Readers Sight Words: Kindergarten

Works well
I bought these for my daughter who had just turned 5 years old and was "graduating" from preschool. She wanted to learn to read before she started Kindergarten in the fall. Her teacher recommended the BOB books and I ordered the Sight Words and sets 1-4. The books start out very simply and my daughter was able to pick it up very quickly. We would read about 2-3 books each night and we quickly flew through them all. She was so excited and proud! It really was a very fun experience for us both. Anyway, the books were great and now my 2.5 year old son wants to read them (you know...anything sister can do, he can do). I look forward to passing them along to him. I would comment that once my daughter read them once, she didn't seem to want to read them again. We maybe got a second reading out of about half of them. She just wanted me to order different books and I kept getting progressively more difficult books. So I don't know how much repeated reading your child will get from these books, they might just be too eager for more challenges.

Good books for kids learning reading.
I was skeptical about these books as its bit expensive. But these books are best for children learning reading. It gives lots of confidence to my kid. And she is happily reading them. One sentence in each page. Specially three letter words.

Keeps children wanting to practice their reading
Very simple and easy to decode for first-time readers. If you’re looking for extremely short stories with very uncomplicated illustrations (on the verge of too simple) these would be great for most all beginners ages 4 and up. Sometimes a bit more color would be nice, especially when descriptive words like ‘red’, isn’t shown. But they’re a set nearly every parent or educator should acquire.

And I love finally having bed time stories read to me 😋 ...
First, I didn't realize their was an order to the different sets. So I bought the Sight words as my first set for my 4 year old daughter. She is just now learning to read in school and she absolutely loves these books. Being able to read a while book by herself makes her proud. And I love finally having bed time stories read to me 😋 Each book is simple with few words and pictures. As you progress through the system and your child becomes better at reading it gets more complex. It comes with flash cards which my daughter and I are able to play various games with. This was the first set I bought and I'm definitely looking forward to getting the next set

Helps Kids Learn to Read!
5 year old son still working on these! We try to do a one every few days and then repeat as necessary. Son wasn't very interested in reading before this Pros: Immediate tangible reading progress in child, nice illustrations and characters Cons: A little pricey
