Great color variety.
I recently got my hands on the Zenacolor Professional Watercolor Pencils set (Set of 72) with the metal box and brush, and I must say, I’m thoroughly impressed! As someone who enjoys both drawing and painting, having high-quality tools is essential, and this set has quickly become a favorite in my art supplies collection. First and foremost, the variety of colors in this set is simply fantastic. With 72 different shades, I found that I could easily mix and match to achieve the perfect tone for my artwork. Whether I needed vibrant primary colors, subtle pastels, or rich earth tones, this set has it all. It opens up a world of possibilities for blending and shading, allowing me to get creative and play with different techniques. In terms of quality, the Zenacolor watercolor pencils exceed my expectations. They glide smoothly across the paper, and the pigmentation is rich and intense. Once activated with water, the colors blend beautifully, resulting in stunning washes and gradients. I appreciate how well they perform on various types of paper, whether I’m using watercolor paper or a thicker mixed media pad. The colors maintain their vibrancy even after drying, which is a huge plus for any artist looking to achieve that professional finish. The metal box is also a great addition—not only does it keep everything organized and protected, but it also has a sleek design that makes it easy to transport. I’ve taken this set with me to art classes and on outdoor sketching trips, and it holds up wonderfully. The included brush is a nice touch, as it allows for seamless transitions from pencil to brushwork, making it even more convenient. Overall, I highly recommend the Zenacolor Professional Watercolor Pencils set to artists of all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, this set enhances the creative process and provides ample opportunities for exploration. The vibrant colors, excellent quality, and thoughtful packaging truly make this set a standout choice. I’m excited to continue experimenting with them in my future projects!

Incredibly well thought out watercolor pencil kit!
I was very surprised, in a good way, at the thought that went behind the development of this watercolor pencil kit. It far exceeded my expectations! The particular qualities that I rarely find in pencil kits that made this stand out from the rest are: 1. Excellent quality of pencils and a wide variety of hues. 2. Each pencil has a number printed on it which matches the numbers and colors on the inside of the lid of the box. the number on each pencil. 3. You even provided a very helpful! do it yourself color chart! I have always had to make my own until now. Thank you very much! 4. I love the design of the tray. One special feature that I have never before encountered was that there is a dip in the tray at the bottom end of each pencil, making it SO MUCH EASIER to pull out your pencil of choice! That was an amazing feature! WOW 4. The box is hinged, not just a lay on top lid. Furthermore, inside of the hinged lid, is another set of pencil number and color chart! Just amazing, you know. The chart is not on the back of the box or on the lid that is easily misplaced. It is RIGHT THERE where you need it! I applaud your designers! Thank you for making the best kit ever. The pencils come in a nice variety of hues, and work very well! The colors lay down smoothly, and are fun to use. In case you want something to color, they included an Iguana drawing, coloring book style for you to color in, so that you get to play with all of your new color combinations right away. They even included a fine tipped brush so you can turn your coloring into watercolor paints! I was so caught up in the design of the kit, that I almost overlooked that fact! Oh, and the great price, and wonderful customer contact person/people. I really applaud and support your efforts! Someone is listening! Thank you.

Great range of colors, wonderful customer care, amazing price!
I have been an artist for more than fifty years and I have tried a lot of new products. These pencils are probably the best value tools I have ever purchased. You can buy watercolor pencils as good as these- if you want to pay a hundred dollars more! Opening the box I was immediately impressed with the spectrum, especially the greens. The varieties are impressive and you can find the shade you want without all the hassle on unpredictable blending. Second, I was impressed with the labeling ( by number with a key) which will help with organization. The color chart, which is included in the box, is a stroke of genius. It is a do it yourself key so you can see what the colors will look like without guesswork. Using the pencils, I found I easily broke off several points, but I suspect that is my fault, with my heavy hand. The color goes on easily, and looks brighter with a wet paintbrush. Watercolor pencils is a media unto itself. They are for people who want to control their art spaces. Watercolor in tubes is a completely different technique, although you can use Zenacolor pencils to add details and highlights to your work. They are great for coloring, and do not immediately smear when you use the brush. I have already used them for planning bigger pieces, and for sketching. The box also includes a nice little paintbrush, which helps keep your work precise. The new company is interested in keeping you satisfied, and even include a little drawing for you to start with right off the bat. As for me, I want the 120 color set next! I definitely recommend this purchase, for artists- and everyone else ! If nothing else you can probably afford these, so take a chance! You will not be sorry!

Good value for the money!
Overall I was pleased with this set. I needed a set of watercolor pencils to add crispness to my watercolor paintings but wasn't interested in spending a ton, and this filled the bill. Here is what I have noticed so far: -Pigmentation is pretty good. Not as vibrant as my more premium pencils but not bad either. I don't know yet about lightfastness. -Texture was also pretty good, they feel a bit drier than my soft pencils, but again, not bad. -Leads were in good condition. Some were a touch off center but no worse than any other value brand. -The tin was in good shape, was very nice looking and was thoughtfully designed. -The brush that came with the set was basically minimum quality for an artist brush - not anything special but it works so I won't complain! -The swatching card was nice to have but I would recommend you still make your own on paper you will actually intend using, since the card stock doesn't do a great job of showing you what the colors look like. -A few of the colors seemed slightly misnamed, for example indigo is not a light purple color, but the ranges were good and I have basically all the colors I need. -The colors spread well with water and seem like they will do what I want them to. Why am I giving this set five stars even though there are a few minor complaints? Well, 72 pencils for $20 is still a pretty good deal and at this price point I think it's well worth the money. Lastly, I saw no issues with tips breaking. Over 72 swatches I didn't have a single tip break. I didn't think I was being very careful about pressure, but some people really bear down on their pencils so that could be a factor. Leads can also break in transport but I didn't see any issues with that so far.

The water color pencils!
I have not used the pencils. I can’t wait to try them. We have house hold issues I have to attend to. They look beautiful, the colors are splendid. Glad I purchased them. I can’t wait, they are tempting. When I start to use them I will yet you know how I use them,

Lots of colors, dissolve well for that watercolor look
Loving my first try with watercolor pencils! The colors are slightly -- not sure how to say this -- off from the normal American art colors. A bit lighter and more toward the neon spectrum. But you have plenty to choose from -- great color selection. The pencil leds are fairly soft and dissolve and spread well with water for that watercolor look. Still experimenting but very satisfied, especially for the price!
