Exactly what I wanted
No, the mirror isn't ultra clear. Yes, cars are closer than they seem. But I wanted something that I could use to glance for approaching vehicles without constantly looking behind me. This works great. Installation was a snap, adjusting was easy, and it was easy to use. I had read about the cars being closer....that's fine. My rule going in was if I could see a car, I wasn't moving over. It was really nice to glance down, see what's there or not there, and then glance behind me to move over. I also found myself glancing down rather frequently and it was nice to spot approaching cars. Looks great, fits great. I'm happy.

Perfect for drop bar bikes
I have other type of “long arm” mirrors for my other flat bar bikes. But those don’t fit the style of drop bar bikes. This one is pretty good. Easy to install. Very low key, but it’s useful when you need to take a glance at cars behind you. I have Varia 515 radar too and this is an extra confirmation before I change lanes. The angle is also right such that when I lean my handle bar against a wall, the mirror stays flush with the wall and won’t stick out or get moved.

Great little product
Easy to install. Well made. Minimal vibration. Wide field of view. Reasonably priced. The best solution for cyclists riding on roads shared by cars, trucks and other cyclists. Buy this and be safer.

Works
Works as expected. It also installs although it seemed for a while that it was too tight to install. The trick is to pull the folded in portion of the bar tape out, otherwise the holding base of the mirror just won’t go in. Once the base is all smushed in, the bar tape doesn’t flare or show any differently as it gets wedged within the tiny crevices between the base and the bar. You do have to figure out and adjust the angle a bit and it’s easy to disturb the angle by inadvertently bumping it but, in my experience, it doesn’t happen because of your knee hitting it when riding out of saddle. It doesn’t protrude out that much, so your knee is unlikely to hit it unless you were occasionally hitting the end of the bar anyway (in which case you need to re-fit your bike). But you might disturb the mirror before you actually get on the bike or while taking a break mid-ride, so in the worst case, you might need to adjust it every time you get on the bike. If you have OCD, this mirror is not for you as it will increase the likelihood of an accident because you keep adjusting its angle instead of focusing on the road. It also feels pretty flimsy but does the job of being a rear view mirror fine. The mirror probably has more psychological value than anything else. I can usually hear an approaching vehicle before I can see it in the mirror “far away” (“objects in the mirror are nearer than they seem”) even when I’m listening to music. So it’s usually easier to look ahead and check if the sound is coming from the front or back, and even if there are vehicles also approaching from the front, your ears can distinguish their sound from the sound of a rear-approaching vehicle. Not to mention that you almost never need to actually know if a vehicle is approaching from the rear because it’s not like you ride (or at least should) any differently if there are no vehicles. The only time you need to know is when you want to make a U-turn or otherwise cross the road, in which case you should stop and look around both directions multiple times. If there is an obstacle ahead of you along the side of the road forcing you to go around it by moving more to the center, you are better off stopping and/or relying on your ears. The mirror view for me is just too small to rely on quickly in any of these situations. Finally, the most problematic part about rear approaching vehicles — the main reason you even want to know if anyone is approaching from the rear — are those nasty drivers who drive by too close to you but this mirror (or perhaps anything at all) can do little to help that situation. The remedy for that situation is aggressive butt clenching and silently muttering a cuss word. So, overall, a mostly useless bike thingy that I bought just coz but would rate it as five stars anyway for the promised reflective functionality and more importantly its psychological value.

One of the best safety additions to my bike!
Easy installation. Easy adjustments while riding. Reduces need to look back to monitor traffic or look back multiple times as you’re approaching a left turn. Highly recommend!

Good, but get the newer XL version instead
This Sprintech mirror has been my go-to drop bar road mirror for many years. However Sprintech has released a new XL version of this mirror that fixes two problems of the original model: 1) Mirror viewing area is a bit too small to spot distant approaching traffic. Best to combine this with rear radar such as the Garmin Varia for early warning, then judge side clearance using the mirror as cars begin to pass. 2) Scratches - the plastic mirror surface scratches easily, over time the mirror gets obscured and must be replaced. Amazon shows that I've ordered replacements 8 times for this model. Fortunately the new Sprintech XL model fixes both problems of the original. Its glass mirror surface is both slightly larger and scratch resistant. We purchased two of the new XL and they're a big improvement. The XL is slightly more expensive but a better long term value due to its scratch resistant mirror.

Great mirror, Let’s you see what is coming from behind.
Back in the 80’s one of my training partners used to have a similar mirror installed on his bike. I always thought it was a little goofey especially because it did not fit our hardcore racer image. He was a little older and I guess a little wiser because now that I have installed this mirror on my bike I understand why he used it. I have been riding and racing on the road for 30+ years and during that time I have been hit by three cars and harassed by a long list of motorists. This mirror works great at allowing you to see how a vehicle is approaching and wether you need to take a defensive position to protect yourself. That is the great thing about it. If someone is not giving you room you can turn and look directly at them and they will move over. I have found that most motorists bullies tend to be respectful when they know they can’t get away with clippping you. I did not find that the mirror restricted my climbing as one of the previous reviewers mentioned. The mirror does not weigh much and is easy to pop out of it’s socket if you need to remove. I don’t think you will regret it if you decide to purchase the mirror. It has been working great for me.

Very easy to mount, stays in place, and provides a clear, consistent view
Let me just say right away, I recommend these strongly and this brand specifically. I've had nothing but good experiences with this brand and product. Thoughts: 1. These are very easy to install. The piece that inserts into your handlebar is slightly oversized and requires a little effort to get in place but it's a very solid, stable fit. The mirror piece is again, slightly oversized and a bit of effort to get into it's hole, but once inside the mount, it stays in place very well. 2. You will need to play with the angle of this just a bit but it provides an excellent field of vision. 3. The mirror is not distorted in any way. The view is clear. 4. Yes, you can potentially hit your knee on this if you're out of the saddle but it's not likely. It's mostly a possibility if your stem is very short(less than 90mm) and your legs are very long. However, unless you absolutely slam it, the most that will happen is that you need to readjust it a bit, after. Overall, this is easily the best handlebars mounted solution for the money. I can only think of one option better but it's double the cost of this and only marginally better. So, I not only recommend this, I enthusiastically do! Cheers!

Stylisch
