I purchased this anemometer to evaluate the airflow on two different HVAC systems: a 2-ton ducted mini-split in my garage and a 16-year-old 4-ton gas package unit serving my 1,900-square-foot home. The meter was easy to use, and I used AI to help convert and analyze some of the airflow readings. The results were very informative. The biggest surprise was my home's ductwork. Based on the airflow measurements, it appears the existing duct system is really sized for about a 3- to 3.5-ton system rather than the 4-ton unit that's installed. That information will save me money when it's time to replace the system because I'll likely install a 3.5-ton unit instead of another 4-ton. The garage system was another story. The airflow measurements showed the 2-ton ducted mini-split is properly matched to the ductwork and is performing right where it should. Overall, this meter gave me useful, real-world information that I would not have known otherwise. If you're a homeowner, HVAC technician, or serious DIYer who wants to verify airflow and make informed decisions instead of guessing, I think this is a worthwhile tool.

I bought this to balance the airflow from the HVAC vents in my home, because we have some hotspots. This works great, it's sensitive enough to pick up very low air volumes, which is essential for balancing. You can't do volume testing with this, you'd need a different piece of equipment, but for air speed, this works great.

Helped me diagnose and verify the need for additional coolant in HVAC condenser....showed the results to the service guy and after verifying the warm temperature, performed a cooling pressure test and recharge... for builder warranty

Meter needs improvement with instructions as well as their illustrations. It's not difficult to figure out but I would think people return them because of this issue, meter seems to work satisfactorily.

I got satisfactory data for what I needed it for. The accuracy seems to be OK The averaging feature does seem to work OK. The user manual is terrible. It's the worst chinglish I have run into in a long time. The data recording feature did not work the way I think the manual says it should and the software provided did not work with WIN 10. Effectively, it does not have the data recording feature advertised. Update - also could not get the software to work with WIN XP.

The unit seems to be reliable, I have tested it against a airflow hood and came within about 4 percent of the hood readings. The unit is easy to use and navigate. I purchased this as a replacement vane anemometer and so far satisified.

My unit's impeller was very out of balance. Only after I applied some bits of tape to the lighter blades did it start spinning ~30FPM. Even then, readings were all over the place, +/- 15FPM likely bc of residual imbalance. This unit was returned.

Reading other reviews makes it seem that some don't understand how to use these things. I have had great results using it for air volume for residential room-by-room air balancing. A simple 4x10 dust collection hood & a 4" to 2 1/2" reducer was all I needed to attach the wand to making an air capture hood to easily and accurately obtain airflow readings while quickly and easily changing my free area value on the device to match the pipe size being tested. 1. The wand for airflow IS directional, there's a direction of airflow indicator arrow located on the interior where the rotating vanes are on the perimeter 2. To enable PC connection you may have to enable COM3 legacy port if on windows 10/11 3. To properly get CFM or L/s reading, anyone actually trained for HVAC should already know this....but you need to set your free area in sq.ft on the unit when in AIRFLOW setting of either your square/rectangle duct or the cross-sectional free area of the round supply pipe if taking measurements at the register. For duct it's simple, HxW for free area, and for round pipe just google it. 4. Alternatively just leave it on velocity and capture the air speed and manually calculate your CFM or L/s if #3 proves too difficult to do on the fly.

This is a decent meter for the money, however it doesn't have the ability to measure humidity. That's the only reason why I returned it.

I mean the fan needs substantial amount to start spinning. I think the fan needs to be perfectly perpendicular to the air/wind source for it to be accurate. the backlight is so annoying... stays on for a second then turns off. the display is hard to read.. needs to be in your face in a well lighted environment for the numbers to make sense. the device is awkward to use as you need 2 hands to operate. one hand holds the fan sensor and the other hand holds the main unit. you need a third hand to hold the ladder you're stepping on and another hand to hold your laptop as it needs a cable to connect.
