This litter says lightweight, so 10 lbs of this litter is equal to how much clay clumping litter in volume? 10 lbs of clay would barely cover our pan.

I have a Petmate 22040 Giant Litter Pan and the 20lb bag lasts over 2 weeks for 4 cats!  It takes less than the whole bag to fill the box with 3" of litter.  Hope that helps!  I LOVE this litter!  :-)

How does this compare to World's Best or Buffalo Blue Naturally Fresh Walnut?

I agree with the other comments!  I never had a good experience with World's Best, but I did use the walnut litter for quite a while before Buffalo Blue purchased it (around time the company changed, the litter got extremely dusty so I stopped).  SmartCat is FAR SUPERIOR to ANY litter I've tried!  Light, the CLOSEST to DUST FREE- EVER, EXCELLENT clumps, EASY to scoop, NO ODOR to the litter and ABSORBS covered waste odors well, tracking on-par with other litters, AND my picky kitties like it!  This is my FAVORITE litter!!

what is it made out of?

Riva, it is made out of grass seed farmed in the US.  The seed is the only ingredient.  The type of seed is very high in starch content and is used in cereals and other foods.  It is extruded so the moisture is pulled out and the shape is created- texture is similar to a clay but very lightweight- because of the starch that is left, it clumps immediately and removes odors very quickly- it also leaves no dust in the air, which I love personally. How well does this litter control odors?

I've tried every brand of natural cat litter I can find, and this one was not impressive when it comes to odor control.  The best natural cat litter for odor control that I've tried (and it has better clumping than the wheat, corn, and paper based products) is cedar.  All the naturals track more than clay (except Yesterday's News).  If odor control is top priority and natural isn't a consideration, Fresh Step Extreme does the job but it is dusty.
