Instant response, very long life.
I have used Legere reeds for several years, but when I switched to the Signature Series, I found them much firmer than the standard ones. Once I selected a lower strength, I found the reed quite responsive with the lovely, smooth tone I prefer. I don't like the feel of cane. And Legere reeds last for years. I use them with a 1924 vintage Buescher soprano sax. Old and new technology have never mated better.

extremely easy to play and consistent.
I really like the way these play and the lack of hassle of dealing with cane. I'm not a real fan of the tone (too bright) so have gone to a different brand of synthetic. They are overpriced and are not very durable as they are easily bent or split and wear out quicker than the brand I play now, with the sound quality dropping over time. These are excellent for students because they are easy to play with little maintenance or hassle, but I have found that some students will struggle if they try to move from these to cane reeds.

Wonderful reed! I can't say whether the cane reed ...
I'm still breaking-in this reed with my Otto link Super tone Master 7*. I find it a little bit hard to blow, a little more effort than using my cane reed. Maybe it needs a little getting used to. IT IS really durable and does not need to be moistened. Its sound is consistent. Wonderful reed! I can't say whether the cane reed is better or not, but I must say, they have different sound characteristics. It is really responsive. If you want to play loud or softly, it does the job great! Now the next step is up to the player.

Mixed Bag
Here is the deal. I really want these reeds to work. I have purchased many over the years, for Saxaphones and clarinets, and have varied experiences. And I have dozens in my arsenal of reeds. My general assessment is that these are close and are worth a try. They take a little time to get used to, and they all suffer from one "flaw" that is an irritant-- they are transparent and very difficult to see to line up on a mouthpiece. It is also difficult to find the right strength -- it will not be the same as whatever cane reed you are used to, and they are not (as one would think they should be) all the same. By horn: Clarinet: I find these unusable (for me) on clarinet. They all blow hard and sound harsh to me. Soprano sax: I have gotten acceptable use after a lot of trial and error. The American cut feels better than the Signature and seems to have a better core to the sound throughout the range of the horn, particularly upper register G up into altissimo. The Signatures tend to get thin or harsh on the upper end of the horn and require more effort to keep a. Ice tone. They are useable for me in practice and in doubling situations (where cane reeds dry out between uses), and where a brighter sound is needed. They tend to be nearly a size harder/firmer than a decent cane reed. They tune differently than cane reeds. Alto sax: same experience as on clarinet. Unusable for me. Have never found the right firmness. Way too bright on an already bright horn. Tenor sax: Don't like the signatures. But have found the Studio Cut to work well in all situations. My GoTo mouthpieces are Link STMs. It took awhile to get used to them but they are a daily user for me on tenor. Baritone: Have only tried the Classics. But frankly, anything works for me on bari. Fine for doubling situations. Brighter than cane. Bass: Wish I had one. All in all, a mixed bag. Try them, but don't expect miracles. If they work for you and you cane put cane reeds behind you, great.

In love
Switching from cane to synthetic has its learning curves and adjustments but for me from now on itโs Legere reeds. The fact that they are durable compensates for the price. $30 for one synthetic reed verses $20-30 for a box of ten came reeds sounds unfair until the synthetic one outlasts and out performs all ten of the reed ones. The GREATEST selling point for me though is the reed is ready when ever you are. I often do shows with one alto and one soprano or one alto and one tenor and occasionally have done studio sessions with all three and it is satisfying and encouraging to not have to worry if my reed is ready. The switch to Legere has been the single most impactful change to my sax playing.

The sound is really great once you get used to the texture of it
I'm sold! I double on soprano so not having to prep a cane reed is exceptionally important. The sound is really great once you get used to the texture of it. Face it. It's not cane so there will be an adjustment but I really think it is worth it! This is what I will be using for the foreseeable future!

Consistency, reliable and easy to play
I started using Legere reed a few months ago, and I love it so much! It is very easy to play for beginner sax players like me. It produces a slightly brighter sound than the cane reed and I like it. I can play low notes like low Bb and high F# quite easily. I can just pick up the reed and play right away without the need to soften the reed first like those cane reeds.

This has been a consistent great performer
I first used this when I was struggling to find consistent reeds. This was around 2012. I was finding that 80 percent of the box was being thrown away. So after hearing that Tom Scot used these on soprano I gave them a go. Instant blowing and strong sound. Itโs not a AAA cane Reed but it is 90% there, but, and this is huge, itโs 90% 100% of the time. Now I use the soprano in all genres I fact yesterday I was playing Eliza Aria in a church ceremony and Ed Sheeran. Then later some Stevie Wonder. When I play I can be doing songs on Alto and Tenor and then have to pick up the sop at a seconds notice and it plays instantly with no choking, even outside in sunshine. Unlike the alto and tenor I use this Reed all the time. It suits the soprano and is consistent with every new Reed. They last me around 3 months (cane would be 10 to 14 days). Overall Iโd say buy with confidence. Even if itโs not perfect for you itโs always good to have a spare that you know will play well whatever the conditions.
