Updated resource for practicing therapists from the father of rational therapy. Modern cognitive-behavioral therapy has its roots in the rational approach created by Ellis in the 1950s. Now known as Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Ellisโs systematic integrative approach has grown and matured into a powerful mainstream psychotherapy. Hundreds of thousands of patients have benefited from the active interventions of therapists using REBT. Includes a thorough description of REBT theory and procedures, case examples, exercises. Major themes include: The Theory of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy; The Practice of REBT; The Main Cognitive Techniques of REBT; The Main Emotive and Experiential Techniques of REBT; The Main Behavioral Techniques of REBT; The Integration of REBT with Other Psychotherapies; Summary and Conclusions. Review: The Practical Therapist Series - While Dr. Ellis has already published many popular books on Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), this book from "The Practical Therapist Series" is targeted to doctors qualified to practice psychotherapy, who have no time to read lengthy popular books. While the audience of this hardcover is health care professionals, I, not being a medic myself, found this work pleasant to read and easy to understand Much of the theory of REBT was derived from philosophy rather than psychology. Dr. Ellis has read many works of ancient and modern philosophers before devising this framework. REBT is cognitive, emotive, and behavioral, and is not by any means strictly "intellectual". REBT states that is not an adversity (A) that negatively affects the human but the belief (B) of the individual about this adversity, that leads to negative consequences (C). These are the simple but most important ABCs of the therapy. Not being a psychotherapy practitioner, I can recommend this book to anyone who is interested in what REBT is. Review: Fast delivery and value for money. - This book is thin and the print is so clear. Thank you!

The Gold Standard
From the originator of Rational Emotive Therapy, this is one of the bedrock books that furnishes therapists a much-needed guide to behavioral modification techniques for their patients. Unfortunately, few states have legislation that require training at this level for master's level counselors, so psychologists, now in short supply, are the ones who are trained in this technique. Hopefully, master's level people who care about their clients will seek the kind of training outlined in this work.

Exhaustive yet succinct.
Most books comprise lots of fluff. You know...rambling on for five pages just to make a single, semi-coherent point. This book, however, is slender. No fluff. No nonsense. Just a concise and thorough exposition of everything there is to to know about REBT.

Not hardcover as advertised.
The description said the book was a hardcover, but itโs a paperback. Otherwise itโs fine. Great book so gave 4 stars - wouldโve been 5 if product was as described.

Self-manage
All Patients should be taught to self-manage their problems. That should be a goal of a good Therapist. REBT needs to be a part of any treatment plan.

Important book for those seeking non-12 step, secular recovery from any dependency.
The big ok in condition as expected. Great price. This book is the basis of SMART Recovery, now 25 years in use.

REBT
I have been using REBT for many years and lent my book out and it was never returned. The one I ordered was used and in better shape then the one I lent. It was a good price and good condition with great delivery.

Papercover book in the price of Hardcover
I have been charged for Hardcover book, but the bookseller had send me a paper cover book. Its very disappointing from the bookseller side. Although, the contents written by the author is very much valueable.
