Small Package Packs A Lot Of Capabilities
I have always had trouble sleeping from being a teenager until now in my 70's. As a light sleeper, I seem to hear every pop and crack in the house at night and that keeps me awake. Plus, my mind won't shut off either as I am listening to the night noises and going over the day's activities in my minds eye. Our daughter and her husband take a fan with them when they travel and also use the fan in their bedroom at night to block outside sounds and give them enough background constant noise that other sounds in the house don't wake them up. My brother does something similar. So, after all these years, I decided to look for something smaller than a fan that was easy to use and could travel with us without taking up too much room. Looking through my favorite on-line store, Amazon, I ran across this particular sound machine which had pretty good ratings. It was more expensive than many listed, but I like to go for quality. Plus, it has a choice of 20 different sounds to choose from where many of the others only had 10 sounds or less. And, the sounds are loaded on a MicroSD card which means you can add new sounds and are not stuck with just the canned sounds that come with less expensive sound machines. So, I chose this particular sound machine. Impressions - This is really small, but t has some weight to it so does not feel cheap. The speaker is in the top and has a nice sound quality. Controls are simple, but you have to read the instructions to get the hang of how they work since some are dual use. There are 3 buttons located on the bottom of the front side. The middle is the power button. You have to hold it down for several seconds to turn it off and on. the other 2 buttons are + and - so a quick push of either adjusts the volume. If you hold the + or - buttons down for a couple seconds, the box goes to the next sound clip. So, you cycle through the list of 20 sounds by holding down the + or - buttons, listening to the sound, and going on if you don't like the sound that is playing. There is a card in the product box that lists all the sounds. Volume is good and has a pretty good range from low to high. The battery is rechargeable and seems to last a good time. One night, I left it unplugged and it ran for 5 hours and was still going strong when I turned it off. So, length of time on the battery might be variable depending on how loud you have the box turned up. I have it turned down to fairly low and it lasted for at least 5 hours. The unit comes with a USB charging cord. You can plug it into a USB port of a computer to charge it or you can use the wall plug of your cell phone charger to plug the cord into and charge via a standard AC outlet. This unit does not come with the AC wall converter plug but any cell phone charger plug with a USB port will charge this nicely. Another nice feature is its bluetooth capability. On the bottom of the box is a small button (hard to see) with the letter M on it. You can turn bluetooth on and off with this button. Turning it on, my Motorola android smartphone paired right up with it. And now, you can play any music from your phone through the sound machine speaker - cool. My only complaint about this machine is that there is no fan noise in the 20 different sounds that come with this machine. The fan noise - like a box fan - was important for me to have on hand. It does have a microSD card with the 20 mp3 sounds on the card and this card can be replaced with different cards that have other sounds stored on them. In fact, you can purchase more sounds from Sound Oasis to get what you want. However, at $4.99-$5.99 per sound, it can get expensive. My solution was to find a free sound app in the Google Play store that has the fan sound I wanted and I can play that sound through bluetooth to the Sound Oasis machine. That saves me a few dollars but it means I have to have my smartphone plugged in next to my sound machine and turned on all night. So, it depends on how you want to go. My suggestion to Sound Oasis is to drop one of the too many sounds that have water of some sort flowing, splashing, dripping, raining, etc. and add a box fan sound to replace it. Most people like the sound of a fan background when they are sleeping and this would make the Sound Oasis box complete. Bottom Line - This is a great sound machine of high quality and great capabilities and I am very happy with my purchase. I like the Pink Noise sounds and I have found that the constant pink noise running all night calms my active mind and allows me to get to sleep a lot faster. Plus, I seem to sleep a lot deeper which means I actually get up in the morning feeling a lot fresher than I ever used to. One of the 20 sounds that come with this machine should be a box fan. It does have pink, brown, and white noise sounds to pick from along with the many kinds of water sounds, birds chirping and one music sound that's kind of Zen-like. Update - 9/9/2019 Well, this device is more versatile than I thought. After using it for a while, I still give it 5-stars. I also discovered that I can download any mp3 sound file from the Internet and load it onto the micro USB card in the sound machine and play it. I have taken the USB card out of the sound machine and plugged it into my computer with a microUSB to USB adapter, moved all the sounds I don't like onto my computer for perhaps future use, and kept only the sounds I like on the card. Then, I found some desk/floor fan sounds on the Internet (free) that were about an hour long and loaded them onto the microUSB card and plugged it back into the sound machine. Now, I have all the sounds I want on the card. And, I discovered that after the sound machine plays the short (1 hour long) mp3 fan sounds I loaded onto the card, it repeats automatically and replays the sound. So, at the end of the loop, the sound slowly goes down in volume, seems like it quits, and then starts over automatically. So, even shorter mp3 sounds will play all night. You could probably use it as a music player except it would just replay the same song over and over because it won't skip to the next mp3 on the card. The wife and I really like this machine. We just plug it in every night and unplug the machine during the day, so the battery is not subjected to the charger when it is not in use. In August, we traveled to Iowa and stayed at my mother-in-laws house for a few days. She lives in a very old house without too many wall outlets, so we had to use the battery in the sound machine for a few days. It lasted for 8 hours each night while we were there. I keep the volume less than half scale, so at least I know at lower volumes, it will last for 8 hours.

THIS TINNITUS SOUND BOX IS FANTASTIC!!!
I have been using this product for several weeks now and it has worked wonders for me! It is specifically made and geared towards tinnitus sufferers, and has helped me to get a good night sleep again. I love the fact that it is rechargeable and I can place it in any room without having to re-plug it in. I use it throughout the day and the tinnitus is becoming less and less prominent. I developed tinnitus several months ago after an ear wax build-up. At first, it scared me because I had never even heard of tinnitus and thought that I was having some kind of a mental issue. This sound box offers me the best and immediate relief while listening to the CRICKET sounds channel. Crickets have a certain high pitch that HITS THE RIGHT SPOT which neutralizes the annoying tinnitus sounds. I believe that It is natures way of habituating the brain to learn to ignore the tinnitus. It is kind of like fighting fire with fire. I have tried other sound boxes and they just did not work for me. A lot of work went into creating this product and I am so grateful to the manufacturer. It is worth every penny that I spent for it. My prayers go out to all of those that suffer from this horrible condition and be assured that there is hope.

Handy for quiet background noises or as a bluetooth adapter
I am severely sound sensitive and moved into a noisy apartment. I got this in hopes it would help but because of the nature of my sound sensitivity (not able to ignore background sounds), it just added one more noise to the cacophony. I think it would be helpful for people who have normal noise response (able to choose what to focus on and mostly ignore background sounds), especially if it were used to block quieter noises like traffic sounds. Some of the sounds would go quieter than others. For some the lowest sound setting was still too loud for me, but for others I could get it fine. There was a nice selection of sounds. The controls are a bit weird. The volume and power operates normally but everything else was cumbersome. To change type of sound you have to hold down the volume button and cycle through every single sound. So if you prefer the 6th sound, every time you turn it on you’d have to do 5 long clicks on the volume button. I was confused what the mode button did other than turn the power on and off. Sometimes I had to hit it to get the sound to play even if lights indicated it was on. To get the machine to switch between white noise mode and Bluetooth mode, you had to pick it up to find an almost-hidden button on the bottom of the device. I didn’t end up using this for the white noise, but my iPhone earbud adapter broke just after I got this. I have to wear sound canceling earbuds pretty much 24/7. It was a Godsend to have this to use as an adapter while mine was being repaired. I returned this unit afterwards. As an adapter it has some pros and cons. I have corded earbuds I plugged into the unit to play audiobooks from my phone. If I was using it only as an adapter, the battery lasted most of the day. Definitely longer than the four hours it advertised. The sound quality seemed normal. If my earbuds weren’t plugged in then while paired it would play out the device’s speakers rather than my phone’s. While the earbuds are connected, the device is small enough it’s easy to move to set wherever you are working, but a little too big and heavy to put in a pocket to carry hands free while on the move. It does not have speakers so it didn’t work to keep my earbuds plugged in while talking on the phone or Skype. No one could understand me, saying my voice was extremely muffled. It allowed me to turn the volume up or down more than my phone would allow, which I appreciate. When I’m falling asleep I often want the sound quieter than my phone goes. Overall it doesn’t have as many features as the tiny bluetooth adapter I usually use, but as a white noise device it was very helpful to have the versatility to do both white noise and bluetooth speakers or adapters.

Compact, impressive sound volume, good quality nature tracks
This is a very good sound machine for those with tinnitus. The sounds are custom designed by MDs who specialize in tinnitus. There is also a well-written booklet that explains tinnitus. If Sound Oasis is listening, here are some improvements I would suggest: 1. The volume adjustment goes to quite high levels, but for me I prefer lower sound levels. The level I prefer is near the bottom, about two up from baseline. But one level is a bit too high, and the lower one a bit too low. It really needs levels in between. Would be nice if it had something like 32 sound level adjustments. 2. Would like a timer on it. Because fortunately for me, my tinnitus is vascular-related. Whenever I get up at night to go to the bathroom, it gets noticeable when I go back to bed. But it usually subsides within 10-30 minutes after I lie down. So a 1-hour timer is fine for me. 3. Would like a soundtrack that mimics riding a local train, where you can hear the rhythmic sound of wheels over the rails. The bullet train soundtrack is too innocuous and nondescript. Would also like a soundtrack that mimics the sound of a crackling campfire. I really like the tiny, compact size of the Sound Oasis, yet the sound volume is impressive. I don't know how anyone can sleep when it's gets that loud. That combined with the rechargeable battery makes it convenient for travel. Right now I am using the brown noise sound track. I still need to experiment with soundtracks with nature sounds to soothe my tinnitus, and for that, the Sound Oasis can't be beat. If you install the free Sound Oasis apps on your cellphone (there are two) you can access more tracks via Bluetooth. The variety of sounds is impressive. And with those tracks, you can use an equalizer on the apps to customize the soundtrack to suit your tinnitus. I also like the memory card concept. So you can change the built-in sounds on the machine, which you can't do with other sound machines.

Sounds A+ /Speaker A /Software F (glitchy)
My girlfriend and I have a few sound machines already from other brands. She read about pink noise being good for sleep, not just white noise. She thinks this is the best sound machine she has ever had and thinks I should replace mine with it. However, it’s glitchy with cheap buttons and it was getting stuck in Bluetooth when I wanted it to play the sounds on the card so defected a star. This would actually be nice for meditating not just sleep because of the nature and water sounds. Also, this should be $20-$25 not $45. UPDATED. It is VERY glitchy and stupid programming. It died in the middle of the night and woke me up from the loud sound it makes. Who thought that was a good idea that a machine to help me sleep makes a loud noise to alert you and wake you up when it’s dead? Also it can be plugged in and it just turns off… what the heck. My white noise machine is ALWAYS on, why can’t this be?

Wide Variety of Sounds for Various Uses
Interesting little gadget. Will it cure my Tinnitus? Of course not. But I enjoy the wide variety of sounds, some of which help me get to sleep while others set the mood for a cozy night curled up with a mystery novel. It produces clear sound at a high to very low volume which is easily adjusted. Plus it takes up hardly any space. The silicone ring on its base keeps it pretty secure so a light bump doesn't even budge it.

Bad in almost every possible way
It is astounding how bad this device is. It is supposed to help you relax/sleep, but due to a staggering variety of flaws, does the exact opposite. Specifically: • Low sound quality. I am not soothed to sleep by these scratchy, tinny speakers. Only irritated. • The irregularities in the sound loops. Why do so few reviews mention this? At random intervals, the sounds will cut out for an instant, or not loop smoothly, or slightly change in volume. This is jarring when you are trying to fall sleep. • Poor volume controls. It's only changeable in increments, and surprisingly large ones. Your only choices are "too loud" and "too quiet." You will want to split the difference but be unable too. • The display. Every time you push a button, for instance change the volume, a surprisingly bright green light appears. In a darkened room, this is painful! • When you turn the power on or off, it emits a LOUD series of beeps. Easily twice as loud as the music loops, and you cannot adjust or disable this sound. Again, quite disruptive to that sleepy mood you're trying to foster. • In order to turn the power on or off, you have to hold the power button for some seconds. Not press it once, like, you know, every other appliance you own, but hold it. Sorry, but what? What could the benefit possibly be of this design choice? What purpose could it serve beyond annoying and inconveniencing the user? • Lack of power adapter. This comes with a USB cable only, which is unfortunate for anyone who (for some strange reason) doesn't sleep next to their PC tower. • Cord length. I have bad news for anyone whose bedside table is more than 3 feet from an outlet.... There are other faults, like the oddly long fade-in time when you switch audio tracks, but I'll stick to the most glaring/irritating ones. To keep balanced, I'll now cover all this device's positives. Its three-button layout is easily navigable, and its visual design is cool and sleek. I couldn't think of a third. Some people are saying "it's good for the price," but I must disagree. I would not use this if it were free. Its only function is to irritate the user, so in closing, please do not buy this.

This device has so many issues, DO NOT BUY IT
I bought this product because of my tinnitus, which has steadily gotten worse over the years. I cannot get to sleep without some background noise. I will say that I like the variety of white noise with this product but the pros end there. CONS The battery life is trash. It does not last anywhere near the 5-8 hours as advertised. It’s also very glitchy and will turn off in the night even when the battery is not depleted. I can turn it back on without plugging it in and it will run another couple hours. When this happens, you have to hold the power button down to get it to turn back on. Every time you turn it on, it makes a ridiculously loud tone that wakes up my husband. You may think “well then, why not just keep it plugged in all the time?” I tried that… somehow that doesn’t work. It will stop charging so that you have to unplug it and plug it back in every night for it to recognize the cord. On nights that I forgot to unplug and plug it back in, it will again randomly quit in the middle of the night, waking me up and subsequently waking my husband up when I turn it back on. The cord is also very short. Luckily I have a plug in on my headboard shelf but I don’t know what others would do if you don’t have a plug in near your head. This leads me to the next issue. The volume makes no sense. It can be either so quiet you can barely hear it. And for someone with tinnitus like me, makes it pretty much useless. Or you can turn up the volume one notch and it’s really loud. There is no middle ground. I keep it on the louder side because I can’t sleep otherwise. But this also means I’m limited to only a couple sounds that are not too obnoxious at such a loud volume. This brings me to my final complaint. Even though I do like the variety of sounds on this device, it’s really nothing special or different from other sound machines, including cheaper ones. And again, I can’t even listen to most of the sounds anyways because of the volume issues. I really would not recommend buying this product.

Akku schnell entladen

Zero regrets purchasing this!
Purchased as a gift for my husband specifically to help him manage his tinnitus. He is normally the worst gift receiver, asking that gifts be returned, or just never using them. He LOVES this machine! He is sleeping more restfully - something he hasn’t been able to do for years. And I like it too!
