Kingfisher Fly Fishing Stripping Basket

I can't recall the last time I wrote a review. It's quite rare but, after struggling for a few months with a mesh stripping basket I gave this one a try. It works fantastically. I just got back from using it and went from 50+% of the casts having some knots/bunching at the end of my cast to 0%. Well, Well worth the money.

Altered this plastic stripping basket to rest my rod when retying or rigging. Not perfect, but still effective. Straps are adjustable and essential. Just wish the neck strap was padded.

Came on time, nicely made, but came a little warped straight out of the box which is kind of upsetting considering the price. It seems that it was that way from the way it was stored at the warehouse, not manufacturers fault. Still a good product, nonetheless. I'm still giving the product itself 5 stars because it's the perfect size, fits comfortably, the buckle is nice and solid and the rounded edges are a perfect touch so you're not accidentally scratching yourself each time you pull more line.

I bought this thinking it had the silicone extensions included since (you know) they're pictured with the product. To give them benefit of the doubt I even contacted the seller - nope. They didn't even have them for sale. Without those, wind tends to blow the line out of the basket. The basket works ok but I made my own extensions out of aquarium tubing. Three stars because there are baskets available with those for the same price. If anyone can find the extensions please let me know.

I've tried to save money by making my own stripping basket, but there is something to be said about something that is manufactured for a specific purpose. This is a sleek design. It looks like you can add some weed eater line to the tops of the cones to better hold fly line, but it works well without it.

Might not be the best one on the market but it gets the job done. The waist strap is a little small on me, big guy 6'3" 300 pounds. For the price it works great. Mostly it gets used in my jon boat to keep line from going all over the place. Have use it wading a couple of time with only issue being the size of waist strap and my big belly. For the price would buy another one if something happens to this one.

I bought this in Spring of last year, used it frequently and now in the fall of this year it has cracked all the way across the bottom and become useless. The crack does drain the basket though. In my opinion, the plastic is far too thin for its intended use. This item is grossly overpriced for the quality of the materials and construction.

Fly fishing at pyramid lake is very hard to do while on top of a ladder with waves and wind....especially without this basket. Totally worth it
