Baked Alaska by Josi S. Kilpack
This book is added onto all the other books by Josi Kilpack as being a wonderful, comfortable read. She makes you feel that you are just right there with her. How she ever gets involved with the ongoings of what is happening to solve the murder mystery is just intriguing. The recipes after some of the chapters almost wants you to stop reading and try the recipe she has posted before continuing on to read the rest of the book. Great read for anyone who likes to cook as well as reading a mystery book. No foul language, clean writing. Excellent!!!

Great series!
I picked up the Pumpkin Roll book first and I fell in love with the main character, Sadie. She is cute and witty and a sassy older character that I am not used to reading about. It is a nice change from all the superficial teen fiction series out there and is usually filled with great mysteries and twists. Get this book and the whole series :D

Half-baked at Times, but Entertaining
If you have enjoyed previous novels in this series you won't be disappointed. Sadie and Pete stay true to their characters and feel like familiar friends. The cruise ship setting is new and interesting. Sadie's son Shawn is described well and daughter Breanna stays true to previous books, but all four main characters needed to be described more fully, especially for newer readers. As always the book is humorous, clean, and full of plot twists. You do, however, have to suspend reality to accept some of Sadie's detective work. I found myself thinking "Really, Sadie? You're going to all that trouble to discover who Ben and Tanice are when obviously the ships security could have looked them up in minutes!" I found other detective work of Sadie's similarly unbelievable. Over all though, I enjoyed this book.

Great Book, Great Author
Thankfully this is part of a series, so I can be reacquainted with characters I enjoy. I love Josi Kilpack's books. I own most of what she has written. Her books are fun, entertaining and clean. I will continue to buy whatever she writes.

Great Booking
I love reading her books. They hold my interest and there are so many different things goinig on that you really do not get tired of reading them to find out what happens in the end. When you read the last page, you want more. Would recommend it to anyone who like adventures and great recipes.

They're getting great again
I thought this book was better than the previous two (Tres Leches and Banana Split). I liked that this story got back to Sadie's family life with her kids there and all the awkward, real, and sweet moments that can bring. I'll be honest....I'm not an avid reader and I'm not a literature critic, so I don't have anything really significant to say about it, and I assume you can just read about it online for a summary of what it's about. So, all I have to say is that I liked it a lot and thought it was more along the lines of the first few in this series. I would recommend it and I'm looking forward to her next book.

Oh, the yumminess
Audience: Adult (Clean)Genre: Cozy Mystery (Culinary)Length: 368 pgs.Rating: **** (Really liked it)Review: This is the first of the Sadie Hoffmiller mysteries and it's number 8...what a time to jump in, right? But you can see how it's totally appropriate. (Long story short--I sat down at my first day in church in Alaska and saw that this book was on top for their book club. I downloaded it the next night.)I really enjoyed it. I can see how reading the books in the series before it would have enhanced how I read this one, but I didn't feel lost and the book could stand on its own. The recipes were awesome! I've already tried one (the Red Potato and Salmon chowder. It was great!) I enjoyed reading them almost as much as I enjoyed reading the book. I loved the characters. I loved the setting. (So excited to go on my own Alaskan cruise, probably next summer!)Source: Bought a Kindle copy from Amazon.Content: 1-5 (1 being minor instances, 5 being saturated)Sex: 0 (some kissing)Language: 0Violence: 0

Great read.
This book took me back to my cruise to Alaska (minus the deaths/murders of course)! Completely captivated from first page to last.
