It is about 6.6 lbs without the head.

How sturdy is the spreader attachment? First thing to go is always the spreader

How sturdy is the spreader? When treated with care, it seems to be very durable. I've had this tripod for three years and used it for weddings, and photographing over 100 antiquities without any problem. I don't put my foot on it or stress it in any way.
