Works with AMD Ryzen!
I bought this based on another review saying they had an Asus x570 gaming tuf plus Wifi and it worked for them. I have the same mobo paired with the Ryzen 7 5700x. The cable that comes with it is super short and would not reach my PSU so I attempted it without the cable and it worked! I bought this to be able to use a UAD-2 Satellite and I guess since that has its own power supply, thatโs why it worked. Thank you!

Worked right the first time!
I bought this to transfer numerous DV camcorder tapes to my computer for storage and editing. It worked flawlessly without any problems. It even ran properly the first time! I recently built a new Linux desktop computer and this fit the motherboard/case without any problems. Using Debian 12 and dvgrab software to connect to the camcorder. Create a shell script file and run. Here's the shell script: #!/bin/bash dvgrab -showstatus -a -t -s 4000 -rewind This will create .dv files. Other options are available.

Works Driver-free on GhostBSD / FreeBSD
Works great on GhostBSD 26.1 / FreeBSD 15. No need to install any drivers - uses built-in O/S driver. Used it to grab video from DV tapes via FireWire 1394a port.

Maudio 2626 + presonus 32.4.2ai
Both the interface and mixer worked prefectly with this card. Both @ 64samples 96khz with reaper. Reapers latency indicator states 1.5/1.5 I regularly use reaper as a live mixer for full band studio jams. Zero clicks pops. Multiple fx groups etc.

Some difficulty installing, but worked fine after that
Like another reviewer this was the second FireWire adapter card I tried. I needed to connect a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 audio interface to a new PC running Windows 10 version 1909. The first card I bought was a StarTech brand one from NewEgg which didn't end up working. Initially after connecting this card to port PCIe x1_1 of my Asus Prime Z390-A motherboard the system would not POST. I tried several BIOS tweaks (with the card removed) but nothing let the system boot with this card installed. Finally I moved the card to a different port and the system does boot. I discovered that no BIOS settings needed to be changed from their default values, and that this adapter card only works in PCIe x1 ports 2 or 3, not port 1. Thankfully there were no more difficulties after that. I connected my audio interface, booted the PC, and it worked. I did not have to install any special drivers. Overall a huge relief after having struggled with the bad card from NewEgg and having my system initially fail to POST with this one.

The first PCIE card that worked in Win 10 .. non-TI IC cards don't work
I went through 3 cheaper cards, all of which used a VIA IC or FPGA, in my attempt to capture DV video for a client. The VIA-based cards PCIE cards caused BSODs, would appear and disappear in Device Manager, or simply do nothing. In one last attempt before telling the client the mini-DVs were going to a lab on the mainland, I bought the Ableconn card after I remembered that Texas Instruments ICs were used in the original Firewire cards. The Ableconn card uses a TI IC. I used the card with WinDV. Success! I still can't capture from the Firewire port in PPr, but I think that is an Adobe problem. If you need to capture from old mini-DVs, bake the tapes at 140F for 10 minute to make the tape binder more flexible, and let them cool to room temp. The effect of baking lasts about 1 week, then you'll need to rebake to reduce the risk of the tape flaking.

Simple, simple simple!
Product arrived a day early which was great. I just plugged it in to an open slot and it worked - less than 2 minutes work! My system is Windows 10 and my new motherboard didn't have 1394 support but I needed it for an old audio interface that required a 1394a connection. Driver is built in so no need to download and install any legacy drivers - nice touch. Simple and simply flawless, so far.
