Ergon Men's St Gel Bicycle Saddle, Men, 440 400

My husband loves it. It’s a lot wider than the saddle his road bike came with and has more cushion. Keep in mind it’s more of a firm cushion feel but still very comfortable

I can't decide if I like this saddle or not. It has a lot of very firm padding and that is nice for an upright riding position. But the firmness of it is also part of why I'm not sure if I like it. It's almost too firm I think. I can ride it comfortably for about 10 miles but then it starts to cause discomfort....not exactly pain...more like pressure. You could definitely go without padded shorts with this saddle or wear a very lightly padded pair to prevent any chafing on longer rides. I think if I rode it for an extended period of time it would break in a bit and I'd get used to its firmness and it would become quite comfortable. I ended up keeping it and plan to use it on my old hybrid bike or another bike down the line when I get one it might work with well. This is definitely one you would want to use for a very upright riding position. My ebike is slightly forward positioned so I think maybe that might be part of my long term discomfort issues with it. All in all I think it's a great saddle on the right bike. Ergon makes excellent products. This a very well constructed saddle made of good quality components and I expect it would last a very long time.

Very comfortable bike seat I use on my mtb. I had a Ergon smc4 this is even more comfortable and a better seat for a mtb. With a shorter length, wider and very comforatble. Very nice.

First, i understand im an extreme use case here. grains of salt and all. I rode 100 miles a week plus or minus 30 miles depending on work schedule. I live in Arizona. so between a regular of over 100 degrees and the wear of 100 mile a week. plus sitting in more or less in regular sunshine. the gel. Ruptured and melted ALL OVER like it is bleeding. this goo wil ruin whatever gear you have making contact with it. while comfortable. it is not an endurant product. lasted less than 6 months. although i will be buying another product from this company to replace. this product is for CASUAL USERS

Ride in vey comfortable

I'm a big guy with pretty wide sit-bones. I use my bike on the road for ~ 20 mile rides, but also occasionally go off road on trails. This seat fits me so well and it's a huge improvement over my previous seat. I honestly didn't believe I could find a seat that was comfortable for longer rides. This does the trick.

Comfortable but can be quite slippery with some shorts/pants materials if angle is not adjusted perfectly. Once it is adjusted it's very easy to move around on for longer rides. Used it with a suspension seat post (Kinect) on an electric bike and it's quite comfortable.

I'm 5'10" at 238lbs, my sit bones are at 134mm and I've spent the last 6 months just getting saddles onto my bike and returning them, aside from two prior to this Ergon ST Gel. Those two were the WTB Koda and WTB Volt, both in wide and the chromoly rails with gel padding which made them very very firm. The Koda is what I set the expectations to on this bike for its flatter profile, and I absolutely loved, and still love that saddle. But I've used the Ergon SMC and felt I needed more padding and wasn't right for my more upright position, on a drop bar bike, it would've fit seamlessly. Up until I found my position with this one. Yes, it is firm, but not as firm as the Koda, and has more rounded edges and less of a fishtail, but enough for me to put power down on climbs, though I'm utilizing my gear range more here than with the Koda, the trade off was that after about 6 miles, I had forgotten that the saddle was even there, and it was its maiden voyage. What was supposed to be a trial ride that was unequipped, turned into a 40 mile loop around Tucson. The Koda would let me know i was in for it at around the 25 mile mark, but it really flexed its comfort on gravel, and that's why it's in my saddle line up. The ST gel saddle flexes nicely with my cadence, paired with the right air pressures in my tires, the ride was smooth as silk. I haven't felt that much enjoyment from a bike ride in a long time. I love the Koda and, in a more aggressive position and more time on hardpack dirt, it would outperform the Ergon, but as I have extended my handlebars after replacing the front shocks, I kept the head tube nice and long for a more upright position, keeping my saddle and my bars even with one another so I needed something just a little more supportive. At first, I wasn't sure if this saddle was going to cut it, I felt I was sitting on the saddle rather than in it like the WTB, and had some slight chaffing off the line but that quickly disappeared as I kept humming along, and as I've said, forgot the darn thing existed. I purchased the saddle from a clearance on Ergons website, which was shipped via Amazon anyway. I hope they don't discontinue it, I aim to put a lot of miles and a lot of smiles onto my tours and commutes here with it, and will be purchasing replacements for this ride. Goes without saying that Everybody's sit bones are different, geometry and fore/aft positions plays into the equation and what was getting in my way was that I had it set too far from the handlebars. I got lucky in that when I set it up, I was close to my optimal position that I was reluctant to adjust, and I'm glad I bit the bullet and quickly found where the saddle should sit.

I finally found a comfortable seat for my e-bike. Perfect in everything.

Recently bought a bike to start commuting to and from work. The saddle that came with my a Carrera Subway Two was, to put it bluntly, horrendous. It looked ugly and was extremely uncomfortable. After looking around for a new saddle that would give me good comfort and performance for a good price point I came across this one and it’s changed my riding dramatically. My commute is just shy of a 6mile round trip and now I feel no discomfort and would be confident going on longer rides. Highly recommend this product.

Ich bin absolut begeistert. Nachdem ich 2 einstündige und eine zweistündige Touren komplett schmerzfrei absolviert hatte, habe ich mich heute entschieden zum ersten Mal seit ewigkeiten meine gepolsterte Fahrradhose wegzulassen und hab eine zweistündige Tour in einer normalen Jeans gemacht und siehe da KEINE SCHMERZEN. "Das ist eine Frage der Gewohnheit" und "Fahrradhose hilft" sind halt die typischen Sprüche, die man immer zu hören bekommen hat, von denen ich nun mit absoluter Gewissheit sagen kann, dass sie völliger Quatsch sind. Ohne die gepolsterte Hose konnte ich zwar auf meinem alten Sattel im Grunde überhaupt nicht schmerzfrei fahren aber nach 1 bis 2 Stunden hat auch die Radhose nicht mehr geholfen und die Schmerzen kamen trotzdem (und das seit Monaten, da hätte doch längst ein Gewöhnungeffekt stattfinden müssen)... Heute, mit diesem Sattel, ohne gepolsterte Radhose, nach 2 Stunden Tour: keine Schmerzen, keine Taubheitsgefühle. Jetzt kann ich auch endlich mal längere Touren planen und vielleicht mal 3 oder 4 Stunden in Angriff nehmen, bisher waren immer die Schmerzen der limitierende Faktor.
