Sommersby (BD)

Sommersby is one of my favorite movies. A good one for a night you want to cuddle on your couch. The movie was made in 1993 with Richard Gere and Jodie Foster. What makes this movie so excellent is the 2 actors playing the main roles are so wonderful and believable. You will definitely enjoy it.

I have always loved that story, even though it does want a tear at the end you can’t really find them to watch them on Netflix or prime and I saw that was on sale… then I bought it. It was a good deal.

First of all I apologize for asking for a refund and return. I discovered the following day that there is nothing wrong with the movie I purchased from you. The problem was me I was playing the DVD in the wrong player. The movie is fine. I will be keeping it. The cover shows no signs of wear and the movie is in great condition.

The story line was surburb. His past "was" behind him and he turned his life around, but now his past has caught up with him. Is he an imposter? Did he commit murder or not? The dilemma is to either acknowledge or deny his past and what those consequences will bring. Would his wife be looked upon as an adulteress. Would she and the towns people who came to believe and trust him lose all their investments and he would not be hanged, or should he confess to murder and be hanged, which then his wife would keep her respect and the towns people investment and hard work would be saved. Come to think of it the story line in a lot of way's is like Les Misreables. The inner turmoil of what decision to choose. I especially like Jodie Fosters plea, her acting. A real tear jerker.

I first saw this movie in 1993 when it was released (I was 16). I loved it then, and when it was available on VHS I bought it as a young twenty something. Now, 32 years later at 47 years old, I still love it. The performances of both Richard Gere and Jodie Foster are captivating, the costume and sets are wonderful, and the cinematography is beautiful. It's entertaining and free, what else do you want?!

I really liked this movie-ALL of the acting was splendid. Richard Gere and Jodie Foster have an incredible chemistry. Set in the south of the United States just after the Civil War, Laurel Sommersby is managing to work the farm without her husband Jack, believed killed in the Civil War. Jack Sommersby was not a pleasant man,so when he returns, Laurel has mixed emotions. It appears that Jack has changed a great deal, leading some people to believe that this is not actually Jack but an imposter. Laurel herself is unsure, but willing to take the man into her home, and perhaps later into her heart... She knew his face. His touch. His voice. She knew everything about him... But the truth. As the story progresses,and Jack and Laurel fall more deeply in love then ever. Favorite line for me was: """"I told you to use the fertilizer in the fields, Jack.""""""" A movie worth buying and watching!

Sommersby La rielaborazione credibile di un vecchio film francese. Un uomo torna a casa alla fine della guerra civile, tutti i suoi concittadini lo riconoscono, ma non il suo cane l'uomo è diverso da quello di prima, non è violento legge al figlio Omero, ha bisogno di paio di scarpe diverse...Un vecchio rivale d'amore ha sospetti, sul presunto Sommersby, ma la popolazione della cittadina gli crede. L'uomo ha un'idea per rilanciare l'economia del paese. Quando tutto sembra andare per il meglio, matura il dramma, ma l'uomo preferisce morire giustiziato pur di restare Sommersby.

Un super film avec des acteurs formidable ! À voir absolument !

Era un regalo, y aunque no gustó tanto como creía creo que cumplió su objetivo. Y el proceso de compra fue fenomenal.

Meinen Vor-Rezensenten möchte ich beipflichten, das dieser Film wirklich super ist. Am Anfang, als der neue Jack Sommersby (Richard Gere) einen Toten unter Steinbrocken abdeckt , fragt man sich schon, wer das wohl sein soll und wie sich diese Szene für den weiteren Filmverlauf erklären wird. Es ist spannend, da der " alte" Jack Sommersby ein mieser Typ war, dem Keiner nachtrauerte, als er Frau, Kind und den Ort verließ und dann kommt dieser Jack Sommersby (Richard Gere) als freundlicher, warmherziger, besorgter, fleißiger Mann zurück, liebend seine Frau und seinen Sohn, gibt den Schwarzen Landarbeitern ein eigenes Stück Land und ist auch sonst sehr menschlich, jovial, gütig und offen, lacht, scherzt und freut sich an kleinen Dingen des Lebens. Das krasse Gegenteil zu dem Jack Sommersby, den keiner mochte, weil er eben das Gegenteil von diesem war. Man beginnt zwar zu vermuten, das dieser Mann den echten Jack Sommersby unter den Steinen (am Filmbeginn) begraben hat und dessen Rolle übernimmt, aber wirklich sicher ist man sich des ganzen Filmes nicht, ob die Vermutung stimmt. Bis zum Ende. Es ist schön zu erleben, wie die Liebe zwischen Lauren (Jodie Foster) und " ihrem" Mann Jack nach und nach wieder erwacht und immer inniger und tiefer wird, Zärtlichkeiten und Liebesbekundungen sich häufen..... .Und er ist auch ein sehr liebevoller Vater für den Jungen. Richard Gere und Jodie Foster waren wirklich glaubwürdig, intensiv und echt in ihrer schauspielerischen Leistung. Ein Film, den ich mir mit Sicherheit gerne wieder ansehe.
