Voices Are Not for Yelling Board Book (Best Behavior®)

I read this to my son often. He can yell so much and when he does I remind him of the book amd he tries to be quieter. It is a good boom that teaches kids how to use their voice

This book is wonderful in that it communicates the message that voices are not for yelling, but does not guilt the child into different behavior. Finding books like these that communicate a positive and peaceful parenting message, while giving more productive options than just saying "no" or "don't do that" for calming down (taking deep breaths, telling someone who you feel, etc), is not particularly easy, but this book nails it! I have already shared this book with many other parents. It hasn't magically stopped all yelling my toddler does, but it has given us go-to steps in her language, that we go back to again and again, and it has certainly helped. I love how at the end it says "voices are for..." and then lists various things voices are for, my toddler always says "I love you" at the very end and it's sweet to have that kind of resolution after a screaming episode when we decide to read this book again. Will it solve all yelling? No, but it's a great and positively peaceful tool to add to your little one's library.

We own probably half of the books by this author. Colorful illustrations. Simple and to the point. My toddler loves these books!

I got this for a Christmas present for my youngest great granddaughter. She is 15 months old and is starting to put words together, loves to read books with her mom and dad. She also likes to squeal fairly loud when she gets excited, which is often. It is cute book and I am sure her mom will appreciate its message, Her dad is fairly calm, but my granddaughter and my great granddaughter are not, so this book is very appropriate. It has lovely bright pictures on the pages that they will enjoy.

I work at a daycare and read this daily. The kids and I both have it memorized. I love that the words from this book have helped me understand and communicate with screaming children. I'm able to empathize with them about their emotions and use teaching moments to remind them of the ideas from this book. To me, this book isn't just for kids, but for caregivers too. This book isn't for reading, it's for living. I try to be like the teacher in the book that days "thank you for using your words, I will help you." (My paraphrased version) Each of these books has tips for the caregiver in the last two pages. I highly recommend the whole series to all parents, teachers, or caregivers.

Added this to my classroom collection of the series. Sadly needed to help reinforce classroom boundaries and SEL. The children love this series and the books do make an impact upon young children who are social experimenting.

Great board book. My 5 who struggles to read can read it easily . Book uses simple and straightforward words. Love this author .

My son do not enjoy this book. It doesn't really guide my son to stop screaming which he does regularly!

Read it to my child and she started using the language and calming down tricks right away!

I thought a 3 year old might struggle with the message but after one week he's really taken it on board (after only one day it had a huge impact). It actually covers breathing in and out and telling someone if you are angry, so helps deal with the cause of why a pre-schooler is yelling.

A very bright colorful book :)...will buy all books in the series.
