This seems to fit my Samsung dryer perfectly. I've had it running on it for a few weeks, probably about 30 hours total so far, with no issues. I wasn't sure I would use the pulley, but bought the combo since the belt alone was almost the same price. I'm glad I did because, upon pulling the old pulley out, the new one is clearly in better condition and a slightly better design. There are several great videos online that go through exactly how to take apart and put the dryer back together, so it was not difficult, even though there is quite a bit of dismantling involved. The repair took about 90 minutes total, plus time I spent cleaning out the inside of the dryer and replacing tape on the exhaust pipes that had worn and were causing exhaust and lint to get inside and on the heater. (No wonder it often smelled like burnt hair.) The most difficult part was getting the belt in place. The pulley, whether you use what you have or replace it, has a tension spring. The videos I watched seemed to make this step seem simple, but you have to do it with the drum in place and only enough room for one arm to reach under and to the back of the dryer to then hold the pulley under extreme tension and stretch the belt into the right configuration. I am tall, with long arms, and very strong. I am not sure most people could accomplish this part of the task, but for the money you'll save on paying someone else, it is worth a shot. One additional piece of advice: make sure that when you put the drum back in, the side with the pink tape faces the back. Whoever serviced my dryer last put it in backwards. I have been wondering why every load was getting tied in knots. Not anymore!

Dryer is back up and running

Kudos to the engineering team behind the Samsung dryers like my DV209AEW/XAA. I have replaced my heating element three times myself over the past 12 years we have owned this dryer. We have a significant usage and the dryer easily clocks in between 6-10 hours every day of use. The belt had lasted for 12 years, but with how easy it was to replace, I am keeping a spare like I have a heating element. This belt fit perfectly and having the new roller with the upgraded bearings feels good. In test rolling the drum after installation, the difference was noticeable and the sound level had gone down from the frayed belt too. (Of course this is expected, but it did seem the dryer was quiet akin to new, versus just a part replaced) I did not put longevity in as it has only been about a week since I put it in, we will see if I remember to update in a year.... The dryer is working great again, Thank you for a quality part! UPDATE: 05/2023 - Still going strong and have replaced the heat element again. The belt is running great. One addition note this belt has not jumped the rollers bu the motor the way the original did if someone manually spun the drum backward. Still happy!

The belt is heavier than oem. Tensioner fits ok but I suspect it won't last as long as the oem one which was 14 years old. Primarily because of the way the pivot arm is built. More surface aria on the oem one most likely is better for noise/alignment over the long term. Instead of a punched hole oem hole is pressed or swagged in. Oem pully also is a steel bushing not sealed ball bearings. I'm not sure which is better. New tensioner and belt run quiet and are a good value regardless.

If you are reading this, you are probably the lucky owner of one of the DV42 series of dryers. As someone who could now confidently disassemble one of these things blindfolded (drum metal fracture, failed drum wheels, and multiple failures of the sleeve bearing idle wheel), this product is fantastic. I was aware of previous reviews stating that they needed to add washers to make up the space between the idler arm pivot and the mounting point and that the new belt isn't long enough. You can see in the pictures that the manufacturer must have listened, and the new pivot bolt has a shorter shoulder on it, roughly equivalent to the arm thickness. So it fits perfectly with no washers. At least for my dryer, the included belt is exactly the same length as the old one, only twice as thick. Awesome, and also fits perfectly. I also popped the pulley off the new arm and it is indeed two closed ball bearing assemblies. Looks great. As someone who has been cracked on the knuckles many times by a flying idler arm trying to get the #%%@* belt over the pulley with almost no access and little visibility. I can confirm that this process works well (I have tried them all): 1. Drape the belt over the drum, with the grooved side of the belt toward the drum. The belt makes a great handle for craning the drum back onto the rear suspension wheels, loading in from the front. Don't reinstall the front suspension plate yet.. let the front of the drum rest wherever it does.. this gives you some extra slack in the belt (key). 2. Grab a loop of belt underneath the drum and wrap it around the idler pulley in a way that tensions the idler spring the gives you a loop of belt pointed toward the motor shaft. I hope this makes sense when you do it. 3. Cursing, Cram your other hand in the tiny space left of the blower inlet, grab the loop of belt, and use your right hand, already crammed in the right side, to push the idler arm hard to the left, almost to the end of its travel (awesome) while hopefully slipping the belt onto the wee motor pulley. I hope someone has a better way to do this, but after at least a half dozen separate repair incidents that's what I have got. 4. Praise the genius of the person who discovered the immense cost savings of NOT breaking the razor sharp edges of the internal sheet metal parts. ( I know.. gloves... ). Amazon, It would be really cool if there was a way for the manufacturer to indicate that they have made design changes that fix prior negative reviews. This seems to happen a lot (cool, because the manufacturers are apparently reading reviews and doing something about it). This kit has obviously been improved and it was, for me, flawless. The End
