Q: Can this be left switched on and operated with a timer plug.. or does it need to be manually turned on each time the timer plug switches on the power?

From what I understand it needs to be manually turned on. Button only works to set the tone and colour and turn off and on. I definitely don't recommend this for makeup though. I personally didn't like it and I find it very uncomfortable to look at. Also it is too small to serve the purpose

Hello, this light in the first link to the power supply it can be turned on directly. When you quickly press the power for the first time you can turn off or turn on this light, when you quickly press the button twice you can change the color of the light.

I keep mine plugged into a USB socket next to a dressing table. I'm sure it worked straight away.
