Unbelievable
This is an ecellent coffee table companion for "The Sky" and "The Sun" which I already have. The photos are wonderful and the text informative.

Long on visual appeal, short on science
I purchased this book in hopes I could upgrade my knowledge of astronomy, which has fallen behind the times. In that purpose, I was disappointed, as this book is more a romantic and cultural examination of the moon, than a hard scientific exposition. I learned very little new from this volume. However, many of the photographs are beautiful, even spectacular, and the text is well-written. If you are seeking an introduction to the moon and its visual splendors, this work might suit you. In that case, you might want to add a star to my rating. I have no quarrel with its composition, only its emphasis.

Excellent book on the moon
If you are looking for a book which tells you all about the moon in the way that you can understand and isn't over scientific and which also has lots of brilliant photographs of the moon this is the one to get

Excellent companion piece to Sun
Great photography, good history and explanations - my 2 year old is fascinated by the Moon, and this is a great reference for both him and me.I really liked the previous work "Sun" and this is an excellent companion to that book.Wish he'd do the rest of the solar system!
