Looks helpful in planning a trip

No pictures
Why do people go to New England in the fall? To see the beauty of it all! There are a few pictures, and they are tiny. I say switch to a magazine format and get more photos in there. Boring without showing the beauty and fun that you describe.

An Extraordinary Resource for New England!
This is the most comprehensive guidebook for New England—by far! I We found this guide much better than Moon or Fodor's, and far more up to date. It covers both the famous areas of the states, and the lesser known nooks, and it does so in a way that really brings to life the history and local culture of the places you’ll be visiting. We used the book's superb itinerary section to plan a bit longer than a long weekend trip to Maine, and the advice was spot on! We felt like we got to see, in a limited amount of time, everything we wanted to without having to run around like crazy people, (something that would have happened if I’d used the itinerary I cobbled together from the internet). And who knew that Portland, Maine is a fabulous restaurant city! We used the guide's suggestions and had amazing meals. I am currently using the book to plan a trip to Boston and Cape Cod, and am finding it really useful for those areas as well.

LOVED this book! Get it
This book is up-to-date and just jam packed with good information. In fact, we found it more helpful than other guides because it includes exact pricing, so we were able to create a budget for the trip and stick to it (we went to New Hampshire and Vermont). We found it MUCH harder to quickly find prices on line and other guides have symbols rather than prices which make it hard to know how much you’ll actually end up spending. Plus this guide led us to really AMAZING restaurants, and beautiful nature spots. We also appreciated the depth of the cultural coverage in the guide: really helped us understand the history and meaning of what we were seeing better. A really, really terrific book. And you must include Stowe, VT if you go to that area of the country—as the book states, it’s an ideal New England town (and the restaurants there were particularly good; we also really enjoyed hiking Mount Mansfield).

Invaluable comprehensive guide for planning our all-New England vacation trip!
We were planning a drive to Maine, and particularly Acadia National Park, and realized we had only previously seen parts of New England. Consequently we expanded our trip plans to include visits and stays in all the states in New England, and this Frommer's guide was perfect in highlighting attractions in each state as well as food and lodging recommendations. This trip will be later this year, so we can't comment on the book's suggestions or accuracy, but it's been very helpful in making our plans.

Lots of written Info, but sadly no Photos.
The media could not be loaded. I am a very 'visual' person. I like to see photos or pictures of various sights to potentially travel to. This book gets an A+ for an extreme amount of information, but an F- for the total lack of pictures or photos to accompany the list of places to see. Without photos it's really hard to get excited about visiting somewhere. Besides the pretty cover, there's really no photos. It's just not for me.

This is the guidebook to get
Purchased the Moon guide (ugh) and Fodor’s (meh) too, but ended up throwing those away. This was better written, better organized, and was clearly from the point of view of locals (the others seemed like they were written by committee). I appreciated all the insiders tips the book gave, like how to avoid the crowds at the Norman Rockwell Museum and how far in advance to get tickets to Tanglewood. We ended up doing a really wonderful Berkshires road trip with this book in early July, and in late spring a lovely jaunt to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Both were easy to plan for thanks to this book.
