While I was able to gain some much needed perspective about my business, I'm not overly excited about it. I did not follow the instructions at the end of each chapter. I read the entire book in a couple of days. Some of it was confusing because it keeps referencing another book. This book uses the first one & adds to or modifies some parts to more closely fit a contracting business. I'm more of a "numbers" kindof guy. So, this book was somewhat enjoyable for me. Math & statistics just make more sense to some people. This book has alot of math. Some of which I had not been considering, in relation to my business. While a brand new startup company can benefit from this book, it is written more for the established company wondering why the invoices are there but you're still running on a shoestring budget. Overall, I'm glad I purchased & read the book. I would recommend this book. Just suffer through some parts & continue reading to the end. I believe there is something to be gained by all business levels. Unless you're one of my competitors. In which case, don't read this book, & continue doing what you're doing please.🤭

This book literally transformed our business. Van dykes understanding and compassion for the Business owners in construction industry is remarkable. In my humble opinion, this book as a launching point. You can read the book and implement the concepts within a couple of weeks. From there the sky is the limit. Whether you just want the basics or want to delve deeper into the financial Health of your business through his website, additional reading or the group coaching program it’s pretty much up to you. As a residential building Business owner for over 10 years, we knew how to build great houses but not necessarily how to run a profitable business. After implementing the steps in this book I can proudly say we went from a break even to a healthy 6% profit within about 15 months. A must read for any contractor looking to run a sustainable construction business.

I'm a bookkeeper for several contractors. I'll definitely be suggesting that we implement these practices in their business as soon as possible. This makes sense and will highlight how to adjust your pricing to become profitable, something every business wants and needs to stay afloat. A great tool that can be used for contractors, but also for any business following the common-sense strategies outlined here.

Many tradesmen will bust their budget on the latest and greatest tools for the van. Whatever they think will make them fast to make more money. Yet very few will invest in themselves. This is a huge mistake. This book is far more valuable than any other tool you could have in your van. It teaches you how to reverse engineer the business side of your business. Shows you where you may be making costly mistakes and how to fix them. It took me all of about 10 minutes into the book to take the first step necessary to move on and break the craftsman cycle. I ordered the audio version to listen to in the truck and the paperback to go through the steps to break free from the cycle. Hands down the best ROI for your business and yourself. What's the point of being able to build a house that can last 100 years if you can't build a company that will last 5? Buy this book. Read this book. Live this book. I can't tell you how much I needed what's inside. I can't tell you how much it's changed my life.There is literally no way this won't work for you. It's like a diet. if you stick to 1,500 calories a day and a 2 mile walk you will lose weight. you can't go to your doctor and say I'm doing exactly what you said, but not losing weight. you're lying, you're going over in calories, or not exercising. it's a math formula and math doesn't lie. if you do x, y will result. it's so simple, just do it. Less stress, happier life, happier employees.

After reading the simple system laid out in this book we have had 26 consecutive months of profitability. Only problem was that I wish I had read this book sooner.I have since bought several copies to have out to my friends in the industry
