Easy and fun game for players of all ages. The potato is a good size allowing for easy grasp for hands of all sizes. It is also soft and well padded, which comes in handy for those crazy throws; this means the electronics are protected and it shields users from the harder parts should they get hit with it. This is especially helpful when playing with kids of younger ages. The premise of the game is simple and the recording makes it clear at what stage of the round you are in. As opposed to "musical chairs," in this game, when you are "out" you actually get a potato chip. Once you collect 3 chips, you are out. Although this prolongs the game, it is slightly confusing for younger players, who might interpret getting something (chips) are them earning points or winning. But the game doesn't hinge on this rule, so it can be ignored as needed. The chips provided are made of card stock, but still easily damaged or lost. Because the game is not necessarily intended to be played around a table, players may have a hard time keeping ahold of their chips, which may contribute to damage/loss. Players may need a solution (such as chip keeper or chip table). Since there is no "game box" for this one, the chips can be stored in the velcro closure pocket that houses the on/off switch for the game, when the game is not in use.

Huge Hit with kids and adults! You never know what's going to be a hit and what's going to be a miss when it comes to gift giving. I like to celebrate the Christmas season with my family, including two grandsons, ages 1 1/2 and 5 1/2, by giving small gifts throughout the season. Some of them get played with for a few minutes or a few days and then interest is lost. But, this thing has staying power. My younger grandson enjoys just flinging it around and when the adults get involved, it gets a lot of laughs just trying to throw the crazy thing from one to the other. It's very soft and not likely to hurt anyone and the music gets faster as it gets closer to stopping. The first night I went to bed with the crazy melody playing over and over and over in my head. hehe But, that was ok. Now we ask the little one, Where's your hot potato and he's off and running in search of it. Hasn't gotten old yet. And it's well made too. It's holding up well. For $8, we've gotten a lot of mileage out of it. It's very silly. Just right to lighten the festivities!

Entertainment value for kids at a 5 year old party was perfect. They all got a kick out of it. That quality is pretty good too. The size is perfect - soft - easy to throw - little bigger than a baseball - maybe two baseball size. Perfect for young kids.

Well, this one was a winner! I bought this toy for my kids (4 and 3) for Christmas after browsing for toy deals on Amazon. It looked cute and simple and it is. Unlike some toys, you take it out of the packaging and turn it on and it is ready to go! I really appreciate it coming with batteries. My little ones don't even use the little potato chip cards but have been having a ball playing with each other and with me. Simple, fun and almost impossible to break- definitely a good choice. Finally, I will add that I got this on sale for approximately 1/2 off the regular price and I'm not convinced that I'd buy it if it wasn't on sale. But if you have little ones and can snag it on sale, I'd recommend Hot Potato!

My grandkids 2,4,8 and 12 all have fun with this. They also like sliding it to each other on the wood floors. The sound is annoyingly loud BUT - if you open the back, snip 1 corner stitch which holds the sound box in place, you are able to cover the sound area with tape (I used duct tape - but probably any type would work). I taped BOTH sides, and stuck the box back in. SO much better! Kids didn't care it wasn't as loud, and it was a relief to me! Also note - if you removed the box by snipping all attaching stitches, I believe you could remove the sound box and then hand-wash the "potato". I've had other toys with this type of sound box and I have been able to wash them without any issue.

It broke the first time my grandson played with it. Don’t waste your money!

Our last hot potato lasted 10 years. Our kids love it. It's one of our favorite games. It's soft and doesn't hurt if you get hit by it. Perfect game for kids and adults of all ages.

See I like this product as a whole. I wouldn’t return it or anything. My issue is it’s SO LOUD. And whenever my one year old drops it the batteries move and I have to reopen and adjust them. So it’s kind of annoying in that aspect. But really it’s not too big of an issue to where we wouldn’t use it. It’s fun and easy for kids. The young ones can toss it and feel include, since we all know little ones don’t get to play all of the older kids games and can get left out. This is a good go to. It’s simple.

It's a fun toy, but sometimes the music cuts out when it is dropped. I suspect the batteries are a bit loose inside. Also the fabric looks like it will get dirty quickly.
