it is not a remote. it is a air quality sensor that you plug in to an electric outlet across the room to monitor air quality and it connects back to the unit over the airwaves to report air quality in the room.

How often do you replace/wash the hepa drum filter?

I wash the outer filter once a week the charcoal filter lasts about 3 to six months and the large filter I changed once after on year. Love this filter
