Pixiss Artist 10" Proportional Divider - Drawing Tool for Artists - Gray Scale Value Finder, Color Wheel and Artists View Catcher Finder - Drawing Supplies & Drafting Tools

The view finder was a bit smaller than I had hoped for; however, it wasn't the main reason for this purchase. I purchased this mainly for the gray scale/value finder and proportional divider. The gray scale/value finder is easy to use. It's made of plastic so should last for quite awhile. The proportional divider works perfectly. I used it to transfer a photo of a mountain range to a canvas and loved my results. There is also a handy color wheel included. I found this to be well worth the money. There were no directions included with how to use the proportional divider so if you've never used one, you'll want to jump on YouTube and watch any of the videos on using proportional dividers.

These are great tools! I bought this for the proportional divider to use in making measurements while drawing. The three cards included are terrific as well. The gray scale, viewfinder and color wheel card are laminated and compact, very useful. The proportional divider seems a bit delicate, I wish it was sturdier, but so far so good, and it’s a great tool.

The proportional divider is a great tool once you learn how to use it. Keep in mind there are no dedicated markings to tell you what ratio you are getting from the divider. So you will need to do some measuring of the input/output of the various positions for the locking button. Once you have the proportions you want you can 'measure' the subject and transfer the desired proportion to your drawing. I find that the tool tends to slip unless you slide the locking lug past the detent position; that seems to help hold the position of the measurement while transferring it. The other tools in the kit are nice; I've used the see-through grid several times. Overall, a nice entry tool for proportional transfers.

The items in this little kit are great! Being a retired machine mechanic, I know that new tools take a bit of learning to get used to. These items hit the nail on the head, when it comes to filling a need of beginning artist. The dividers are plastic, so they should be handled carefully; the other items (color wheel, gray scale finder, and artists window), are plastic cards, and should last a long time. The proportional dividers, from what I've heard, are a temporary tool, so you can get used to judging sizes and proportions by sight. Looking forward to working with these items, so I can learn to draw what I see.

I got this for my art classes. It is made of plastic and a little flimsy. It does the job but probably won't hold up over a year due the it being so thin.. easy to break. The points at the end could be thicker

I was looking for something to help with measuring drawings to increase/decrease their sizes. I love this kit. It will come in handy when I am teaching my art classes. I would recommend this to students. It can be added to one of those clips on a lanyard, or clipped directly to my plein air easel. (clip not included, though.) In addition to the proportional divider (similar to double ended calipers), I think I will use the clear grid the most, as well as the value scale, which has cutouts so you can isolate a particular area to see its TRUE value.

The only complaint I have about the divider is that even with the clip on, it’s very loose, so sometimes once you get your dimension, you go to flip it and just the smallest bump or movement can set the measurements off because the forks move ever so slightly. Wish it was more sturdy and only really shifted if you apply some pressure to move it open or close. Definitely gonna buy a different one, maybe wood or something that won’t slip so easily. Kinda a bummer.
