This sucker is awesome
I am where vacuums go to die. With 4 dogs and 5 cats, living on a mountain farm, I kill vacuums on a regular basis. I've managed to take out everything from an old Kirby to a new Dyson & everything in between. Even the ones designed for pet hair didn't last long. Then I got a shark navigator. It was true love! It was like having a Catholic priest come in on a regular basis to perform an exorcism on my carpets. For years, me & my Shark performed miracles in my home, proclaiming from my mountain top... THIS HOUSE IS CLEAN! Then we moved. I allowed a stranger to take my beloved Shark and haul it 2600 miles. By the time it arrived, it was too late. I founded it shoved behind a pile of boxes, hidden by the movers until after they left. It was literally in pieces, it's hoses and cords shredded and pulled from thier sockets. The handle snapped off at the neck, there was no chance of resurrection. I couldn't imagine what kind of torture my poor loyal side kick had endured, and was in doubt I would ever know such admiration for a household appliance again. I started the quest for a new vacuum, of course I knew it would be impossible to find such perfection again. Each year the new models get cheaper in parts while more expensive in price. After days of exhaustive searching... thinking perhaps I could find a remanufactured version of my old pal, I gave up. It was time to admit I had to buy something different. Still, my Navigator had been so wonderful, and I hadn't found anything on the market that seemed better so I ordered a newer model, and set my heart to disappointment. Certainly I would never find another who could make my heart pitter pat like that again! My new Shark arrived and I pulled it from the box. It was pretty, shiny, and a lovely color. I assembled the parts easily, hearing the click as each locked in place. It had a good weight to it, though I felt a bit like betraying a loved one as I tucked it into the closet... not yet ready to actually turn it on for a test run. The puppy took advantage of my distraction, as cable & internet providers came and went. The pup shredded anything he found tempting that had already been unpacked, including packing material. Little Styrofoam pieces and bits of a silk flower arrangement littered a bedroom floor. A calendar lying on top of a box would no longer adorn our wall. And fluffy bits of golden retriever dotted the carpet where he had rolled and played during his destructive frolic. I cleaned up what i could by hand and then instinctively reached in the closet for my Shark. It was not my dear, loyal soldier that heeded my call for assistance. No, there was a new soldier at the ready and it was time to see if it could handle the job. I plugged it in, and turned it on. The Shark came to life, illuminated with the power surging through it. With a light touch, the new machine moved as though floating over the floor, and followed my directions as though reading my mind. The shredded debris was instantly gone, nothing missed, no second pass needed. It was so efficient we were done before I knew it. I popped out the tank, emptied it and slipped it back in with ease. I rewrapped the cord and rolled the vacuum back to the closet. As I tucked it in to its spot I gave it a quick pat and whispered, "That'll do Shark. That'll do." It had done its duty well, with no hesitation or complaints. My old friend was laid to rest, and a new one had come to fill the hole in my heart & my closet. My dogs & cats fur would not be allowed to over run my home. I had a new champion that promised to fight the good fight. All that remains to be seen is how long it will last. A s we all lived happily ever after.

So easy to use and clean. Favorite vacuum cleaner ever.
My favorite vacuum cleaner. So way to swap from carpet to hard floors. Suction is strong and it’s easy to empty and clean.

Not a place in the house this vacuum can’t get to!
Awesome vacuum. I’ve bought 3 liftaways in the last 5 years and use every single one. They work great, really pick up all the fine dust in carpet or the stuff that settles under rugs. I don’t need to pull them up to clean under. This animal rotator is the best yet. This thing has crazy power! The motorized pet hair attachment is amazing. I want it for my other rotators too. This vacuum is actually light compared to the other animal vacs, but when maneuvering thick carpet, it feels heavy on the tendonitis in my wrists because of the extra power. As far as I’m concerned the gain is worth the pain! I’m 5” tall and was able to clean away cobwebs from my Moms vaulted ceilings without a step stool or ladder, couldn’t believe it! I can’t even get cups from the second shelf of my kitchen cabinet without a step stool, so I was feeling BIG! Love that they finally put the duster brush and crevice tool on the vacuum. I hate digging through bags for attachment! They still have yet to fix the hose issue. You cannot use the hose without the vacuum falling over. All my sharks do that! Drives me friggin nuts. I guess that gets you to want to buy the caddy, which I probably will, cuz I use the hose A LOT! Being able to lift the canister off is so cool. I mean there is not a surface in the house this vacuum can’t get to. My sister absolutely had her heart set on the Dyson Animal Ball she uses at work. She was real ho hum when I got this instead. Now that she’s put it to the test, she is in love. She spit shines it like it’s a classic car. Says it maneuvers better, suction is just as cool, and she can’t get even a quarter of what she gets done with the Shark using the Dyson. The canister seems a bit small, but it just sucks up the dust, hair, food particles, so really it does a lot before I have to dump it. The really cool thing is, there’s like a second cup in the canister where all the big crap or accidental stuff goes. Like when you suck up a coin, you don’t have to dig through the dirt, it’s in its own special place. I also was blown away by what I was able to accidentally vacuum up. The dog likes to collect things under the bed. Went under with the canister removed (which is so cool to get under bed and couch so easy) and was trying to avoid the big stuff he had under there, but got a little too close not expecting the power on this thing. It sucked up a whole paper towel, lid from a soda bottle, a 3” screw, a nail file, an dangle earring, thick fabric hair scrunchie, large rubber bands, and big pieces of chewed up rubber from the soles of a shoe...whaaat? All went in extra canister and never once got stuck or lost suction. I’d be prying that stuff from bottom of vacuum usually. The other favorite is the LED lights on the handle. First I thought, weird, dumb, why? Then I used it in closets and between appliance and walls, on the ceiling while cleaning at night. Lights up everything! You can totally vacuum without flipping a single light switch. So hose sucks, and my wrists get a bit sore, but other than that this vacuum will ROCK YOUR WORLD!

Much improved Shark that still has something to learn.
Here's the good and bad from my perspective (keep in mind I vacuum once a week). The Good: - Great suction. Way better than my old Shark. Overall this vacuum does a great job (but there are some negatives). - The canister lifts right off for doing the stairs and the stair attachment has a little roller too. My stairs have never been this clean. - Very easy to empty the collection bin. On the old Shark you had to bring the cord with you to empty the bin. This one lifts right off. Really good improvement. - The vacuum light is improved and there is even a tiny light for when you use the attachments. Great idea. - Can't smell a thing when vacuuming. The old Shark smelled dusty like it was kicking up all sorts of stuff into the air. The HEPA filter on this one does the trick. The Bad: - We bought this vacuum because we have dog and people hair and the old Shark just got overwhelmed. Every time we had to cut hair out of the roller. This one claimed a clog-free experience (or at least way better experience). This is false advertising and simply not the case. - It's both heavier and bulkier than our old Shark. Won't get into all the tight places the old one did. Overall: Nice vacuum with some improvements. Really wish somebody could come up with some sort of clog free way to get up dust and hair.

Best vacuum ever!!
This is the best vacuum I've ever purchased. My son moved back home a year ago, with his dog, and there's never been more dirt and fur in my house (and if you know me, you know this drives me absolutely crazy) and this vacuum picks up so much dirt and fur out of the carpet. And the hardwood floor feature works amazing also. I use that on my kitchen.

Best Vacuum EVER
I purchased this vacuum in July 2017, and I’m only just now writing a review because after nearly 9 years—and what feels like over 1,000 gallons of pet hair—I finally had to retire it. After reading reviews of the newer “improved” Shark models, I ended up purchasing this same vacuum again. Simply put, nothing else compares. It has the strongest suction you could imagine and is incredibly versatile. I have absolutely no complaints about this vacuum. When I started searching for a replacement, I was excited to try a newer model, but after two days of research, I realized this one still can’t be beat. Trust me—don’t waste your time searching. This is the one!

Was great but the hose keeps cracking
The hose section near the floor cracked/split. This is my second unit. My first one lasted about 5 years so I wasn't too upset when the first unit cracked it's hose. I figured it's the life of the unit. So my second unit I bought here on Amazon august 2021 and now June 2022 the hose cracked in the same place. Now I'm mad. This is not acceptable. The second unit was different in a few ways too that was slightly disappointing for a unit that's $300. The cord was shorter by a foot compared to my first unit. The attachment for vaccum for pets on the first unit had its own separate motor. This second unit was powered only by suction to make the bristle rotate. That's not a good design. Luckily the motorized handheld unit fit on the new machine, so I was okay with it. I'll be contacting shark since it's not a year old and see what they are willy to do about this hose issue. My previous research made it seem like it's not a piece that can be replaced, otherwise I would have done that on the first unit but I see someone else had a review saying it was , unless we referred to two different hose points. The hose for me that cracked is the one at the knuckle of the machine close to the floor. Update: contacted shark. Even though this unit is less then a year old, they wanted me to pay for the nozzle. I was the phone 40 mins with the girl to explain what was broken. She said that's not a part under warranty. I finally said give me your manager.... 5 min hold later oh okay we can ship it but you have to pay shipping. $22. Fine. A week later I get a shipment. Wrong piece. They gave me the motorized pet attachment. Call them again, but this time the lady knew exactly what I was referring to and apologize for the mix up. She shipped out the floor nozzle unit next day at no charge and I was allowed to keep the extra motorize pet attachment. As someone else said in their review, they don't send just the hose. They send the whole floor nozzle unit( which btw, costs $113). Keep calling till you get a rep that isn't going to hassle you. They obviously know their hose sucks. As for my old unit, Amazon does sell a hose that fits but it's a pain in the ass to replace ( hence why they sell the whole floor unit). If you want to replace the hose, detach the floor nozzle unit, turn it to the bottom , unscrew twelve screws. One on the inside near the suction might be a toric security screw (star with a raise collum in it, not a regular Allen key). Be sure to label all screws as they are not all the same and you can damage the threads very easily. Once all screws are off, the cover comes off and you have easy access to one end of the hose. Twist it off (it's reversed thread and might have some glue.) But note there is a tab on the left and a black piece sticking up. Note that for later as it's important when you put it back in As for the other end of the hose, it's attached within the collum upright part of the floor nozzle above the knuckle bend. I could not get this part as two screws are hidden under a plastic piece. What I did was pull the hose until it unravel all the way to the end. Reverse screw the new hose to this segment first since you have less access. Then attach reverse twisting into the bottom part of the attachment where it sucks closest to the floor. Be sure when placing this black clip in that the tab on the left fits and the black nub it facing to the ceiling. Replace cover and start screwing everything back. One thing to note: there is a sensor somewhere that shuts the motor off when it's in an upright position. When replace hose, I must have hit it because now my motor shuts off sometimes if I hold the vaccum more in an upright position when doing the carpet. Something I'll have to go back to if I want to truly fix it right. I'm just saying be careful. There are also wires that are hard to tuck back in on the right roller wheel once you open this. Maybe tape them in place as soon as you open this so they don't continue to pop out? So my old nozzle works, it's just only does the carpet if I keep the handle at an angle. Does not affect hardwood mode as that's suction only anyway. Honestly, they should have designed this better if they are gonna keep using cheap hoses. How cheap is the hose? It's particularly clear and very stiff. That's probably why it takes no effort to tear them.

Powered Lift-away is a game changer - like having an upright and canister combined
I finally had to replace my Shark NV680 that I've had more more years than I can remember. It still works perfectly well, but the brush roller finally wore out and all of the YouTube videos on replacing it seemed too complicated. The one feature I couldn't live without on a new machine is "powered lift-away", not to be confused with regular lift-away. If you like having a canister machine because you can vacuum under beds when an upright machine won't fit, this is the machine for you. The powered lift-away lets you remove the dust collection bin from the from of the machine while keeping power to the rotating brush head so you can easily vacuum under even low furniture. Other benefits are the excellent suction, maneuverability and height selector - plus I'm hoping it lasts as many years as my previous Shark (which I keeping for cleaning the car). You can also easily purchase additional filters on Amazon to keep on hand. The downsides are really minor - for some reason I find the rocker power switch on the handle annoying, the power head kind of takes off on its own so it's a bit more arm work to control, and there's no way to reduce the suction enough that I can vacuum my door mats without them getting sucked up into the machine.

It's really good
***back in 2025 after 3 years of use to say the vacuum is still amazing , works as good as the day I got it, easy to clean the whole thing, including long hair and debris out of the roller and have had zero issues*** 2022 review: I waited until I used the vacuum for a couple of months before posting a review to see how the shark would hold up. I had a Dyson for 10 years and it finally broke - did my research to find an affordable strong vacuum that I could replace it with. I thought the Dyson was the best out there but WOW I was wrong, I wish I had this Shark to begin with! Super easy to assemble, it's not heavy and the cannister empties from both sides, the top half will catch large objects like Lego etc. which makes it so easy to clean out and recover accidentally sucked-up large items from! The self-powered head caught me off guard and it came right out to of my hand & went zoom lol! The vacuum itself is lightweight and easy to handle, especially if you're using the lift away feature Very impressed with the suction power - simply and thoughtfully engineered I love everything about it. Picks up pet hair you didn't know was even there (if this vacuum can handle husky floof it can handle anything lol) and it picks up my very long human hair easily too. The head is easy to take apart and clean (I have to do it every 4-5th time I vacuum which is gross but it shows how good this is picking hair up) My carpets look so good now and I am really happy with my purchase, I'm still shocked how much dust bunnies and dirt get into the carpet, especially after thinking my Dyson was getting it all The wand and main head have lights which is awesome I can see what I'm doing vacuuming in corners and see the dirt and crumbs and dust bunnies on my hardwood :) Only cons: I have many stairs in my house and it can be a little awkward managing the cannister + hose + cord but I'm getting used to it, wishing the cord was another 3-4 feet longer. My carpets are about 20 years old so the brush head bounces around in some high traffic areas where the carpet is matted down - I just slow vacuum and try not to go against the carpet 'grain' too much... Not the Shark's fault I should probably get my carpets cleaned or replaced ;)

Gran potencia

LOVE LOVE this vacuum - WAY TO GO SHARK!!! Bye to Dyson D66
I just returned a Dyson D66 - due to being too awkward and heavy with a big ball, that gets in the way and too many plasticky parts. It also felt like it would break when snapping it back to uproght position, of which it was/felt top heavy. I LOVE LOVE the SHARK TruPet Vacuum. The fact it has a metal wand, detachable canister, great attachments, lights, smaller rotating power head, easily slips under a couch, to name a few. I am so pleased I chose this, and believe me it is 2+ lbs lighter than the Dyson D66 upright canister. The construction of this vacuum, feels like hardware that will last. I had a canister hoover for 15 years and I can easily live with this upright, space saver, great suction (equal if not better then DYSON). Our home with pet hair, hardwood floors, ceramic tile floors, high piled carpet, regular pile carpets and low pile rugs, dust/ cobwebs etc, plus cars to clean, will make great use of this lift away vacuum. WAY TO GO SHARK!!!

Broke within 4 months
**Update** This vacuum broke in 2 spots within 4 months of use. The plastic piece of the bottom of the head keeps falling off and now the metal prong on the plug has fallen off after pulling out of the outlet. Very disappointed. I bought this for my cleaning business. Here's a FULL review. PROS: - THE LIGHTS!!! You can see all the dirt that would normally get missed. There's a light on the hose stick also, so you can stick it between furniture and appliances and see all the dirt! - Powerful suction - Fairly quiet in comparison to other vacuums - The liftaway feature is great! Makes it so much easier to do stairs and get under furniture that most vacuums don't fit under! - You can change between 3 floor settings on the actual handle, so you don't have to bend over to turn a dial or click a button on the vacuum head. Good for my bad back! - Canister has 2 compartments. One for dirt, hair and small stuff. And a top part where anything larger goes. So if you suck up some jewelry or a small toy, it's separated from the dirt and hair! CONS: - Heavy. - Needs to be cleaned and maintained frequently, which is less of an issue for household use. I have to clean this between every client because the canister is quite small. - Pulls out carpet threads sometimes, no matter what setting it's on. I've unraveled threads on a few different area rugs/welcome mats. - Does not have a fabric brush attachment. (There's a pet hair power suction head, a wide plastic head and a corner attachment. I prefer the brush for making lines in couches. Overall, great vacuum. My clients love the lights and how quiet it is. My last vac was a Bissell and while it had amazing suction and a huge canister that only needed to be emptied daily, it was extremely loud and the wheels were plastic and squeaky.
