I read all the negative reviews, about how this whistle wasn't loud enough, after I placed the order and before receiving them. I was saddened to hear this as they're intended to be used on my kayak, and the last thing I want, in case of emergency, out in the middle of a lake, is to have a whistle no one can hear.Upon receiving them, the first thing I did, obviously, was to blow on them expecting some soft tweet to come out. I was in my bedroom, and blew as hard as I could once. Literally, it was so loud my ears rang from the decibels. I thought, yup that's certainly loud enough, lol! Then I thought, well I'm indoors, let's try them outside. One blow, and again... they're definitely loud enough. They seem well made and look like they'll last for awhile. Solid whistle... I think I keep 'em.

Not that loud. Scuba Diving
It seemed loud until I actually needed it. I didna live boat drift dive with some friends. The friends on board didn't understand the drift speed and lost track of our bubbles so we ended up a bit down from where they were looking. We had deployed an SMB but I pulled out my whistle and gave it a few soft blows to get the water out and then tried to really get their attention. It wasn't that good and they didn't hear us. We ended up having to swim to a safe spot on the shoreline and waited for them to face us and blasted them with my dive light. I'm not searching for a louder whistle.
