Seems to be well built. A hi-rez user manual should be available. See updates to review at top.
9/4/26 Update: Replaced the batteries today. Batts were at 0.9v. I do not know when the unit quit working (due to dead batts) because I did not hear the alarm but I DO know they lasted way longer than the 45 days (1.5 mo) stated in the manual. Still waiting for the cold weather test. So I'll continue updating...Same Batt Time...Same Batt Channel ๐ 6/6/26 Update: I installed this device three weeks ago and since then, I have seen ZERO indication of rodent intrusion. None on top of the engine cover and none under it, which are locations where they had set up shop in the past. Months before installing this product, I had tried slathering the surfaces with hot sauce on the recommendation of a member of an Odyssey forum I frequent. I lost tract of exactly what brand they used but mine was "red." It did NOT work, but it DID cause the aluminum parts touched by the sauce to produce a not-so-nice layer of white corrosion. I had to wire brush all that off and wash the plastic cover throughly. In the past I had also added steel wool to the top of the engine between it and the cover to block rodent entry. All that did was divert them to the top of the engine cover rather than under it. I removed the steel wool today so I'll continue to check under the cover for a few more weeks. If they reappear, I'll update this review. If they don't, I won't. BTW: our second car, which has the same engine and very similar engine cover, is parked about 14' (center to center) away from and parallel too the vehicle with the device installed under the close side of the hood. Both vehicles, in the past had the same rodent problems and were treated identically to keep them away. I also cleaned the second vehicle same as noted above. The thing is, the second vehicle has also had ZERO visible rodent attacks even though no device was installed. I guess it will serve as an experimental control subject ๐ The ambient temps have been between 85 and 91. So that might be why they haven't set up shop again. This project and my observations will be ongoing. I will update this review with any changes, and then the weather gets cooler, like in mid-November ๐ I'll let you know if they are staying away! Oh yeah... I upgraded my rating to five stars.๐๐ป Original: Unit seems to be well built, operates as described and batteries are easy to replace if you locate the unit strategically. The white zips included are the type that can easily and non-destructively be removed. Here's my criticism... (1)the documentation (user manual) is a bit vague regarding the choice of actions on the red toggle switch...Test/Ultra. I have it set to Ultra during operation since that is the obvious choice but I was looking for explicit instructions to do so. (2) the accompanying paper manual is a foldout and is very small. I always save a digital copy of all manuals for future reference so I searched the web but could not find it. Customer service promptly and politely emailed me one BUT it was a low resolution scan of the paper version. Which, was kinda weird in that when I saved it to my iCloud file system, it took a long time for each area of the two images to "focus." So I thought, ok let me make a screen shot of it and crop out all but page one, thinking I'd do that for each page and save them in order. The problem was that the resolution was so low that zooming in resulted in a really lame image. So this told me that scanning with my phone would be pointless. So I cut the foldout paper manual into individual pages, used my old Epson 2400 flatbed scanner to create color-300dpi scans of each page to create my own high res booklet. I emailed CS with my issue and solution and they were conciliatory and pleased that I took the time to express my thoughts on the matter. So that being said, I think this is a good product using a separate power source (not my car battery) made by a good company with good ideas. Will it fix my rodent issue? Time will tell but I felt that I should write this review of the known, while things are fresh in my mind.

Saved my car wiring! Very easy installation and effective.
After experiencing rodent damage to my vehicle's wiring harness, I needed a reliable and hassle-free solution to protect my car. I bought this battery-operated ultrasonic rodent repellent, and it exceeded my expectations! Super Easy Installation: Since it runs on 3 AA batteries, there is no complicated wiring to the car battery required. I easily mounted it under the maintenance panel in my Tesla using the included zip ties onto the metal frame structure. Great Design & Light Projection: The unit fits nicely in tight spaces. The green indicator light and bright white strobe flashes direct straight into the lower empty compartments where rodents usually try to nest. Compact & Secure: Itโs lightweight, so securing it with two zip ties is more than enough to keep it "suspended" firmly without touching or rubbing against sensitive electronic components. The device gives me complete peace of mind overnight. If you are dealing with pest issues around your vehicle, garage, or driveway, I highly recommend this unit. Absolutely worth every penny!

This rodent repeller works!
This works so well that I bought a second unit. I have had NO rats from day one of putting it to work. I use it outside near my bird feeders which ALWAYS and every morning and evening had rats running around enjoying the seeds that dropped from the feeder. Now, I can even put seeds on the ground for the Quail to enjoy! I am getting more Quail because NO RATS show up. I sure hope it stays effective and that the rats don't get used to it. I have told all my friends about this wonderful product and they too have reported how effective it is at keeping rats away completely.

Rat deterrent unit totally worthless
This unit does not work as advertised. I was very disappointed because I just bought two new cars and of course I'm concerned about pack rats and mice getting underneath the hood and eating the wiring. The previous car I had to extensively rewire the whole right side of the car from rats. After that point I was very proactive and I didn't have rats again. However I regress, I bought two similar electronic rat deterrent units. I have them under the hood of both new cars. So far I haven't had any rats, but that might be just coincidence. Now to the core of my review, I've been having a rat get on my patio and peeing in the same location in a corner every night until it was completely yellow with rat poops all over the place. I cleaned with bleach with pine-sol, you name it rinsed it all down, cleaner than my house. For a few days I didn't get any more rats I thought well the bleach did it. Then I had two of these units that I hadn't used yet, I put batteries in one put it out on the patio right next to the rat latrine. I checked it every night make sure it was working, lights were flashing unit seem to be working properly. After 4 or 5 days I noticed feces on the patio. I thought oh a rat scampered onto the patio to use the bathroom or and Mark it's territory. After finding out that the patio had a rat be gone deterrent it ran away. I went out today to look in the corner where the rat was peeing all the time, and lo and behold there was pee all over the place and poops. Guess what, this rat away unit was one foot away from where the rat was marking his territory. My conclusion don't waste your money. Before I put this under the hood of my new car I thought oh I'll test it where I know there is a delinquent rat to see if it works. What a disappointment and what a waste of money. One star I'd give it zero if I could

GETS RID OF MICE AND RATS.
Actually, I only ASSUME it gets rid of mice and rats...bcuz I've never used it! I also ordered some of the spray; can't think of the name but I call it "Rataway," lol. The lil critters got into my car engine compartment and made a nice bed out of my heater wires (sob), but that Rataway kept them at bay and I've had no further incursions. So: YAY! Guess I should've returned it but I waited too long. BTW: Don't use poison! It is very bad. I was told to do that but I won't. Cheers!

not reliable - donโt believe the hype
this thing worked great. for 2 weeks. the lights on it still work, but no noise or alarm that scares the rodents away. iโve changed out the batteries twice hoping that would help the issue, but unfortunately it didnโt. this one was the typical POS - shopping right now for a different one ๐

Seems to work; so far, so good
ours (ZN-509) is utilized beneath the belly of a trike which lives outside under a bike cover & a metal carport when not in use. our bike mechanic discovered a 'nest' (of some sort) fashioned in the compartment which houses the air filter of our trike last winter during annual "winterizing" & regular maintenance. at a loss, we decided to give this gizmo a try since our options are relatively limited. thanks to fellow, kind, community members' reviews, we bought this Loraffe model for the trike situation & another 'big brother' Loraffe for our 10'x12' metal shed out back (the much larger, triangular shaped, "4-in-1" model w/ two speakers & flashing LED's). both products have been used for a month & so far, so good! the one in the shed is plugged in 24/7 & the one on the concrete carport pad beneath the trike (this model above) runs on batteries. we haven't had to replace the batteries yet after 1 month but it's only "on"/ running during the evening & wee hours of morning. i see no indication of any rodent invasion in or around the trike since appropriating this unit about a month ago... again, so far, so good. i like the compact size of this model & might imagine it could impart lots of beneficial uses in a wide variety of places or applicable situations. iow's, it's small & portable & will run w/ standard AA's (3). yes, it's made in China. yes, it comes w/ a 1 year warranty. yes, you must remove the back plate to install batteries b/c that plate is secured by 1 tiny screw (the kit comes w/ a handy, tiny screwdriver + 8 tiny "zip" ties & 2 extra tiny screws). personally, i see no problem w/ this design but ymmv. Conclusion: would I recommend the product (or, Loraffe in general)? so far, absolutely. would I buy again? whelp, hopefully not b/c we hope the two we've already invested in will work as intended/ advertised for years to come. the ZN-509 emits both ultrasonic sounds & LED strobe effect lights which 'cycle' through 5 stages about every 113 seconds. there is both a red indicator light & a beeping sound emitted from the unit (per manual) when low power (<3.3 volts) is reached & batteries need replacing. there are two switches: an On/Off switch and the "Test" switch. that's it. we dwell in the ATL, GA suburbs (for context) in an older subdivision & our property (about 1/2 an acre) is adjacent to about 2 acres of natural, wooded area which also extends around the rear of our property line. we've been here about 17 years & rodents (mostly squirrels & field mice) have been the major culprit of our rodent dilemma. between the Loraffe's, the annual owls & hawks, we're optimistic that that dilemma will prove mitigated once and for all... time will tell.
