Victor M144 Instant Power-Kill Easy Set Rat Trap - 6 Reusable Rat Traps

Our exterminator put out wooden traps which weren't doing the trick, so we bought some of these and they worked really well for us, including taking down one very large rat in our crawlspace. We also found these easy to safely load bait and set. We only used each of them a single time, so can't speak to longevity but they feel solid. No complaints.

Easy to set. It killed the two rats I had in my wall within hours of setting them. I don’t like killing things, honestly but they broke in, chewed up all my avocados and squash and then chewed into my range power cord. NOPE. sorry but you try to kill me by starting a fire, you have to go. Word of advice, keep the food inside the cup. Don’t put a lot. That rat needs to get it’s head in as far as it can. I used avocado from the one they chewed up last night and boom, there they are in the pics. Leaving them set just in case there are more.

Well the rat was able to smatch the food from the first trap without setting it off. The second time it did kill one, not immediately, however. I had to hear the rat fighting for its life for several minutes, while also splattering blood all over my kitchen. Pretty gruesome thing to have to clean up. Effective? Yes. Humane? Not sure about that one. I won't make yall look at a photo of that.

my yard has been overrun with river rats what a mess, exterminator said they would only use poison which I refused in case my birds got a dead rat it would kill them. So far I have killed 31 rats small and large mostly with these snap traps. the little well to put the peanut butter in is unique and they have to stand on the paddle to get to it. and wham little bugger is DOA It helps to rotate the traps with the other kind I got and also I put out Corn Meal Muffin mix with honey and baking soda which might be helping but they eat it and fill with gas, they cant fart or burp and they go to the den and die. so I cant tell if that works or not yet. They are very smart little Bs and are driving me nuts.

As disgusting as it is to see dead rats in a trap, it's a lot more quick acting than bait stations. I found that these traps are much less complicated (and therefore safer) to use than other traps I've seen of this type. Although they are a little smaller than other traps, I've been able to snag several very big rats because the bite is pretty powerful. For those brave at heart, you can release the dead rat into your trash. Easy to clean if you like. But I am so horrified about the rats that I use a shovel to scoop up the trap and the dead rat and pitch the whole thing. Not very economical for me, but that's my choice. The only down side for me is that the pressure required to set it is hard on my arthritic hands. But that's what makes it effective and I think someone with more youthful hands would have no trouble. It's surprising how effective such a simple device can be.

I bought these to trap California ground squirrels, and I liked that the traps were reusable. The instructions were extremely simple, and the traps were easy to bait and place, with no danger to me. However, the traps were repeatedly sprung, and the bait taken, with no squirrels caught. All I can guess is that the animal can approach the bait from the rear of the trap (where you press down to set it), and grab the bait without triggering the trap. At any rate, they are worthless to me.

At first, this trap is very effective, and I would give it 5 stars. Put peanut butter in the bait well, set the trap near rat traffic and - bam! - you've got dead rat. Unfortunately, rats are very clever, and can smell either your scent on the trap or the scent of dead relatives (even nearby), and would not come near the same area nor the trap in it. That being said, you'll likely need to use a new trap for every single rat you wish to catch. Oh, and they also quickly figure out what the trap is all about, and stop going for it. So, in a nutshell - this product works great but only for a short time and is not reusable. We ended up hiring exterminator service which placed bait stations around the house, which finally got rid of the rats. Their technician said that where's one rat caught, there are 10 more nearby. So, from financial standpoint, mechanical trap like this is not very cost effective. And since we've caught 3 rats with it, there were theoretically 30 more out there. I could not imagine setting up 30 rat traps, nor expect them to be as effective as those bait stations. That's why I ended up giving it 3 stars. Good luck to everyone else out there!

These work fantastic and will save you money. The way this is constructed makes it very easy and simple to remove rat and reboot for the next. I have bought two bundles of these and taken out small mice to large Jurassic rats. I have take. Out at least 20 so far and reuse the traps every time unlike the traditional ones which can be messy and too close for comfort removal of dead rat: I had only one rat that got away stunned but is was not far away from the trap where I was able to capture him. Baiting is simple, usually I use peanut butter but the rats and mice in our area prefer meats, so chicken mixed with French bread seems to work every time.

Watch your fingers, these have a powerful kill bar and the release mechanism seems very light. Removing the dead rodent is pretty straight forward - pull the catch bar back, and let them fall off into a garbage bag. Simple to bait as well. I would recommend buying them.

After waking to a kitchen full of rat droppings and devastation it was pretty clear we had taken on a beast of a rat. First course of action was to try the humane trap route. It only seemed to scoff the bait leading to the trap, leaving the contents inside the trap untouched. I decided to set up a camera to try and identify how big this beast actually was. After a night of surveillance it finally appeared, smack bang in the middle of the kitchen floor, completely ignoring the humane traps. Me and the pregnant wife decided it was time to step up the removal measures as it had kept us awake knawing the house structure the previous night. I initially thought glue boards would be the besst solution to our unwanted visitor, but having reviewed several videos it shows that the creatures caught in the glue boards are in so much distress and die a slow death over several hours. This is when I stumbled across the Victor traps. The traps claim to be a quick kill solution and potentially the least painful of the kill-type traps. After receiving the amazon package I set up all 6 with some peanut butter in the bait trough. 4 in the route I know the rat used and 2 in a hidden darker location. After 15 minutes we heard a snap and a loud screech, which lasted about 3 seconds. I checked the camera and straight away saw the limp lifeless body of the fallen solider. These traps are clearly extremely effective even on larger rats, although I feel as though the rat was in quite severe pain for a small amount it time. It looks as though the bar snaped on it's neck and didn't break it instantly potentially strangling the rat until it's final breath. Overall I would highly recommend the Power-Kill traps as a highly effective way of removing a rougue rat from your home.

This trap is powerful enough to snap those rats immediately! I Setup 3 traps upon arrival and the traps were "Fuĺll" within 10mins past sundown. I am totally satisfied with this prod7uct

Although good I like these better than the original Victor traps for the setting process. Less likely to set off and catch a finger. They're really easy to use and so far very effective - less mess. We've reused them multiple times with no issues.
