Rough Country Cold Air Intake

I put it on a 2016 F150 5.0L, I don’t hear a whistle. Tbf I have tinnitus lol. It woke the truck up, 12hp ish. Exhaust sounds better and throttle response is better. Gives a bit of rumble under your feet too. All around great if you’re looking for something to change your exhaust note deeper, add power, or just want it to look sporty. Lol Installation is super easy. Even with the instructions looking like dirty dog water, you can figure it out with a little mechanical knowledge or YouTube it. Edit: Had for a couple months now. For a few days I heard the whistle but now I can only hear it faintly if I’m listening for it. It’s quieter than the ac. Extremely happy with my purchase!

Installed it on my 2022 f150 with the Coyote motor it does not fit directly but I knew that since it’s for older model years, the throttle body on the 2022 is bigger you’ll need a bigger coupler for that and you’ll need to plug off one of the breathers in the intake tube that’s it, once installed I was pleasantly surprised as it sounds great better than I expected deep sound from it I haven’t noticed any change in mpg which I don’t really care about I got the truck to have blast in it any extra horsepower it gives you if any is negligible it’s just sounds cool really.

Watch and listen to the video. I hear a very audible difference in sound from before as stock to now with the cold air. Nothing else done and I love the sound. I'll update if and when I see any millage changes up or down and if I see any mph or tourq changes. Other than that, super easy installation about 30ish minutes and only one cut to the thumb. So I'd call that a win! There are a lot of install videos for this and the only 2 parts that I was really confused about was how to release the breather lines and where the big cone goes (hint it attaches to the box that the filter goes to "yes it fits" the intake tube) and how to get it attached.

First off, fitting this thing on my truck was a nightmare. The bends are either too aggressive or the pipe is too short. It’s extremely lousy quality; I could make a better filter housing box with a pair of tin snips and a piece of sheet metal. The clamps are garbage. The bolts bound up in two of the four clamps provided and I had to break them off and replace with normal hose clamps. Upon driving it; it sounds incredible but I can only hear it at 3,000rpm and higher. It feels like my horse power dropped by almost 100hp and my fuel mileage is god awful too. Don’t buy this piece of garbage. Buy a K&N and do it right so you’re not wasting your time and money and potentially ruining a $30,000 truck.

Had a broken vacuum line hose fitting on my factory ford intake hose on my 2017 F150 with the 5.0. Instead of buying a new plastic hose from Ford for around $100, I decided to source a metal intake instead to try and avoid this issue in the future. Found this Rough Country intake for around $130 and decided to try it out. Install was fairly easy and took me around 45 min to do with very basic hand tools. Vacuum hoses fit no problem and has a nice grumble to it as an added bonus. Would purchase again!

You definitely get what you pay for. 2.5 stars upgraded to 3 since there is no 1/2 star option. Pros: Shipped fast, all hardware and parts were there and the components arrived in good condition. Install was straight forward and took me all of ten minutes at most. The fit was fine for me, and the hoses that came off the OEM tube fit the metal fittings on this one. Cons: (and the reason for the low star count) The whistle between ~1600-~1900 RPMs is really annoying but is only heard with the windows down. Cheap filter element. I am worried about the quality of the rubber tube that goes between the air box and the intake tube, it seems very cheap and thin, and if that thing deteriorates it will get sucked right into the intake. The intake tube is METAL which means it will get hot and hold heat, ultimately heating the air that is moving past (there is a reason high dollar CIAs use plastic tubing). Clamps are questionable, they don't seem to be tight even when they're tightened to the max. Impression: There is no difference in how loud the engine is, there is no increase in grumble. I drive with my windows down 99% of the time and the whistling this thing makes sounds ridiculous. There is no noticeable increase in power, no notable gain in fuel economy. Could there be an increase in HP? Maybe but if there is, it's very little and I don't notice it at all. I will give it a chance for a while longer but I think ultimately I will remove this and go with something else. I was debating about returning it but I don't want to stick someone with a used intake.

Nice looking and well built intake. Fitment was perfectly fine with the vacuum lines, not sure why some people were having issues with that. You’ll definitely hear more induction sounds from under the hood and inside the cab while driving. Obviously no crazy hp gains from this, but it’s certainly a gateway for any other engine mods down the line. Took me about 30ish minutes to swap in the new one, pretty straightforward and easy even without instructions. And for the price compared to more top of the line intake systems that are $400-$600, this one’s definitely more worth it.

Love the intake for the price I’m very happy with it has a deep growl to it at a lower rpm but when you come on to it she really lets loose and ppl will here you coming
