Yes they really work. Please do not declaw any cat. Its cruel and your not just taking the nails off, your taking the cats " fingers" as well. That's like cutting off your fingers. Its against the law now to do that. The anti scratching tapeswork very well. Wish I can send you a photo.

will this be okay for walls?

it is fairly sticky but I never tried it on a wall. It didn't work at all for my cat. She was able to peel it off the furniture.
