CASTLECREEK Air Conditioner Fence Screen -Tall, AC Covers for Outside to Hide Air Conditioner & for Outdoor Privacy

I have a chain link fence between me and my (terrible, trashy) neighbors. Having to look at their mess every time I glance out my dining room glass doors or walk down that side of my property has been a terrible eyesore and a boiling peeve for me for three years. A new composite fence tall enough to hide their mess is $5,000 that I just don't have to put into a fence. I have been seeking a good solution and explored everything under the sun when I spied these 60" tall air conditioning screens made of pine. I ordered two sets (3 panels in each set). I did not connect them with the installed hinges--instead I positioned them, used 250lb zip ties, and secured to the fence rail and then to each other. PROBLEM SOLVED IN 15 MINUTES FLAT. It honestly took me longer to cut up the cardboard shipping boxes than to put them in place. These are solid pine--not the flimsy screens I usually run into. I think they will weather well and have no doubt they will handle the occasional high winds that I get. I could not be happier with any purchase ever! I have posted before and after to Facebook and am getting inundated with people asking what I used (beware, Sportsman's Guide, you're about to get a LOT of orders). I am so, so happy with the solid quality of these screens and the Owl brand zip ties. For the first time in years I can look or walk out there and not be so irritated I want to punch my neighbor. "Good fences make good neighbors" indeed!

Bought this to cover our propane tank. They are perfect for what we needed. Product looks good and is very sturdy. I stained them which is a pain but they look really good.

There was a lot of prep work in making this the color I wanted. This was used to cover my propane tank. It was the only thing that I could find that was the exact measurements that I needed. The wood is cheap yes. I think the amount of time that it would’ve taken to just buy The 6 foot lattice that was already painted and add hinges would’ve been less time-consuming, then prepping and staining this, but it wouldn’t have been the measurements or the color I would’ve wanted. With the right prep work and the right application of stain and sealer, I think that this cheap wood can look good and last through the weather.

Love Castlecreek Items! Hard to find ready-made Tall size Privacy Screens but this 3 piece screen adds value to our side deck. We use 24 inch white cable ties to fix this to our deck railings on one side. This is our 4th order in 30 years. Years ago we could order this in White wood directly from The Castlecreek Store. Now, it's only offered in Natural wood, so we spray paint both sides white. Amazon ships free and fast, thanks Amazon.

I ordered 4 sets of panels (12 separate panels in total and my project took 11 of them for a 12x18 patio slab) in which each panel is approximately 5 feet tall and 2.5 feet wide. I used a paint sprayer and stained them with Cabot solid stain in the color Brickstone (reddish-brown). To complete the project, I also ordered from Amazon 8 Gtongoto fence post anchors 36" x 4 x 4 and purchased 9, 4 foot tall 4 x 4 beveled top fence posts from Lowes, small and large zip ties, and 2.5-inch flat head Phillips exterior screws. I used an 8-pound sledgehammer to hammer in the yard anchors. Only 8 of the 9 fence posts were used. The 9th one was purchased to cut into 10-inch posts to put in the anchors, tighten the scrap wood in place, and then pound into the ground with the sledgehammer. The sledgehammer will demolish your scrap posts the more you hammer down, so we just had one more 10-inch spare left when we finished. Use 2 people to hammer in the anchors. One to hold the anchor, especially while it goes in because it will start to twist the lower it goes in. When the post was about 8 to 9 inches from going all the way in, I stopped holding the post. It was tricky for me because my patio slab is new and I needed to make sure we did not pound the anchor in too close to the edge of the slab and chip it. The anchors are extremely hard to dig out once in so make sure you have them where you want them. If the anchors are only about halfway in, sometimes they can be pulled out by hand, and sometimes you may have to dig out with a shovel. I would watch a couple of Youtube videos on how to pound the in before starting your project but they were a great alternative to cementing in posts. Once the anchors were in, we zip-tied the panels to the fence posts until we could screw in the panels permanently. I highly recommend doing a predrill into the panels and posts using a bit the same size as your screw to prevent any splitting of the panel wood. The true test for me has been the high wind days we have had and my project has passed the wind test.

These are visually appealing and initially seemed sturdy enough (caveat: for my purposes, I needed to fasten them to an existing structure, so they were not ever freestanding). But after just one summer, they are completely falling apart (specifically, the diagonal pieces are both separating from each other and falling out of the horizontal/vertical framing). I bought 2 of these for >$200 each and would have expected more. Very disappointing. Avoid unless you’re looking for a very temporary use.

Worked out really well. Looks very nice. Easy to assemble, too. I highly recommend this product if you are looking for a cost effective way to hide unsightly things in your yard or maybe you just want some added privacy.

The wind pops off some of the wood, but so far I’ve been fortunate the pieces don’t get far, so I’m able to screw them back on. The wood is not as heavy or as thick as other types of wood, but for the price I knew that it would be good enough for a small area to provide privacy. I cemented fence post behind it for added security and painted it black. Love the way it turned out.
