Not very fine, like little rice sized chunks. I grind mine into a powder using a mortar and pestle which gets a little dusty. Its an inexpensive way to purchase this so a little extra prep was fine with me. This would make one scatter and messy face mask. I use it to brush my teeth and make mascara.
