When you tip this cart to empty, does it stay in the upright position without falling backward? Thank you.

Yes. It has nearly perfect geometry. When you stand it up to empty, it stays there nicely. The only problems with this cart is the handle is kinda short. When walking along pushing it, it's easy to kick it when striding. You gotta take smaller steps. It's easier to pull it behind you if you want to walk fast. The wheels and axles are a little light. But, I have filled this thing completely with dirt and have had no failures. There is a "big wheel" version of this cart that has fat, thick wheels. That would help if using it for heavy stuff all the time, but the price is much more. Overall, this cart is a terrific bargain and a nearly perfect design. Well worth the money.

Can the tires be replaced with 20 x 2.125 inch bicycle tires?

Don't know. These tires are no puncture proof flat tires
