Would this terrarium be appropriate for small spiders?

I would say that depends on the type of spider. My daughter had an arboreal tarantula, so the 'tall' terrarium worked very well. But for a terrestial tarantula I'd go with a longer, shorter terrarium.

How many inches tall is the glass in between the feet of the terrarium and the front vents?

I measured on the outside of terrarium. It measured 1.5" from bottom of glass to the vents on the trim below the opening door. Hope this helps.

Would this be good for hermit crabs?

No, you need at the very least a 10 gallon for a small hermit. Add another 10-15 for each subsequent hermit depending on size. You also need substrate going up at least 3/4 of the tank since it will settle, the door makes it impossible to house a hermit. I highly suggest going to the page Hermit Crab Owners on Facebook. They are not beginner pets by any means.

Is this good for a chemleaon

It would be good for a baby chameleon. However, it is hardly bigger than a shoebox standing upright.
