Hi, I bought it for a 6 year old he is small but when I saw it on him , it would probably fit up to and 8 year old it is good size

Is the focus actually adjustable on the binoculars?

Yes, the binoculars move in and out and to suit the width of your child's eyes and have a central wheel to adjust the focus.
