Downy Fabric Softener Dispenser Ball, -3 pk

I used to use these Downy Balls and loved them when they first came out but then I wasn't able to find any replacements for well over a decade. bought these because we've had laundry stained and ruined by fabric softener not being rinsed well enough in our HE washer. They seem to work pretty well as long as the directions are followed and the washer is not overfilled. The ball emptied better when set on top of the clothes before starting the washer.

These things work great for the softener. Three is a great quantity for the price. The size is perfect. I ordered these to replace one I had bought elsewhere a long time ago and was worn out. Other places they have one of these for more expensive.

I love it!!! It makes it so much easier to do laundry because I don't have to keep have to put a timer for the fabric softener, I can just drop it in the washer and forget about it.

My washing machine doesn’t have a softener dispenser. This works only after a few cycles. The hook that pulls the stopper closed is defective, the plastic ring separates. My workaround is using a rubber band to keep it secure and usable but only use for towels.

I have used Downy balls in the past when I had a regular washer so knew they were a fun item that my aunt and mom would love especially since I got them the bottles of Downy Soft Unscented Fabric Softener. What my aunt did however was sort of funny. She put liquid detergent in them and when they were through she wondered how they had worked. I told her that her clothes probably were not rinsed since these were for fabric softener and NOT for liquid detergent. She admitted that she didn't know that and I guess I should have given her more information at the start. I just assumed if I sent the softener and the Downy dispensers she'd realize they went together. Anyways after explaining centrifugal force and other scientific matters she now knows how the balls open up in the spin cycle and release the softener into the load of sheets, clothes or towels. Perfect! So you put these (just one) into the washer before you start it. You don't have to wait for the rinse cycle! ~The Rebecca Review P.S. My aunt said these made her flannel sheets really soft! Well the softener in the downy dispenser balls. I can't believe she's gone 80 years without using fabric softener. I guess so!

Work great for releasing fabric Softener in rinse cycle...better than washer dispenser.

Great idea. Love the look. But functionality of it isn't the best. It is a it and miss when the ball opens and letting softener out. Lots of times the wash load is completed and the ball is still full, or has alot still left inside of it.

I wasn’t convinced these balls would work, but they absolutely do. Brilliant idea. My washer wasn’t dispensing thick fabric softener so I thought I’d give these a go. FANTASTIC. Good value price and do the job. I also don’t need to be constantly cleaning the dispenser drawer on my washer.

It functions perfectly and as described. I don't know for long the mechanism will work, but for now, this little mech device solves all my issues. 10/10

If you have an older washing machine get this downy ball... you will not regret it... I have to correct the people who complain about fabric softener being left in the ball when their load of laundry is done... that is NOT fabric softener left in the ball... that is water that has gotten into the ball during the last rinse / spin cycle.. it is very easy to use and it ALWAYS opens up and does its job for every load... Again, at the end of the cycle there may be WATER in the ball.
