Let me just say — this little device is pure genius. I bought the Meow Hear This: Hidden Cat Sound Prank Device on a whim, thinking it might get a chuckle or two. What I didn’t expect was how fun and convincing it would actually be! I hid it behind a shelf in our living room where the sound could echo slightly. The first time it let out that faint, realistic “meow,” my daughter froze mid-step and whipped her head around like she’d just entered a haunted cat sanctuary. She got this super confused look and immediately asked, “Did you hear that?” I played it cool and just shrugged. Over the next hour, the meowing continued — soft, random, and oddly creepy in the best way. By the third meow, she was practically climbing furniture trying to find this “cat” she was absolutely sure was in the house. She even left out a bowl of almond milk (we’re dairy-free) just in case it was hungry. At one point, she whispered, “Mom’s gonna freak out if it scratches the couch,” which made me almost break character laughing. Eventually, I let her in on the joke and her mix of relief and fake outrage was priceless. Now she wants one to prank her cousins. On/off switch not working correctly. Sometimes doesn’t turn on when switched on & doesn’t turn off when switched off. Chirping is too fast & doesn’t sound like a real cricket. Would not recommend buying this product.

I was happy to receive my Amazon package while at work and on a lunch break. I was pretty disappointed when I first tried the product as it did not work. Per the instructions, you are supposed to hold the button down for 2 seconds then hear a meow letting you know it is on. I held the button and.... nothing. I pressed the button and released and ..... nothing. I held the button for longer than two seconds and .... nothing. I tossed it back in the package and in the Amazon box to return it. I also bought the cricket which had different instructions and worked. After verifying the cricket worked I started fiddling with the meow-er again. I remembered some reviews talking about a magnet (which is probably just the tiny speaker's magnet). Only metal I had was a screwdriver, and yep, their was magnetic pull. I pressed and released the button one more time and it let out a small electronic "crunch" noise, then a single meow. Well, it works. The instructions forget to mention that one meow is on. The cat fight meow is off. It is completely sealed and designed to be thrown out when the battery dies. When it does I will cut it open to replace - it's probably soldered. It would be MUCH better w/o the cat fight meow. One meow for on, double meow for off. Even though the cat fight meow is too loud, good placement makes the difference. The timing between meows is perfect. Going to be a lot of fun!

We decided to buy this to prank a guy in the office that has been difficult to work with for sometime. I can't even begin to express the sheer joy that we experienced the search for the smoke detector chirp began. The ceiling has exposed, steel beams, and so we planted the device on the top of one. Day 1 was fairly uneventful toward the end of the day. People started asking if they could hear the church, but that was the end of it. The next morning, Day 2, it all changed. They were searching high and low the unplugged computers and plugged them back in. They unplugged printers and plugged them back in everything that you could reboot was rebooted repeatedly. The mini fridge and microwave were unplugged. The air purifier was unplugged. The filter was cleaned and reinstalled to no avail. They also changed all the batteries in the smoke detectors. But for eight hours they had to endure the chirp from hell. Day 3 was more of the same. They searched high and low change the smoke detector, batteries again rebooted everything in the office, rebooted the router and modems and unplugged everything again. Eventually, they removed all the smoke detectors and set them outside. This finally turned their attention to the rafters. They got a ladder and started searching high and low and nothing. At this point, it's become so comical for us in the know that we had to distance ourselves from our other teammates so they couldn't see or hear the smiles and laughter. Day 4, more of the same checking, smoke detectors and computers and microwaves. They turned to the ladders again and searched the steel beams, and finally around noon they located the bane of their existence. They never even questioned who the culprit was. They ended up blaming a teammate that only visits our site every couple of weeks. I cannot emphasize enough how much you have to buy these small devices. The smoke detector and the cricket, as they seem the most realistic. The hours of laughter and the stories you would get to tell later are well worth it.

I ordered 4 of these, one didn't work, I cut it open to investigate and found one of the 3 batteries inside is swollen up and junk Can't seem to find a way to ask for a replacement besides going through Amazon's Return procedure, but this is not worth the effort for me to return... Instead I'll just give it 3 stars because 3 of them do work, I understand that they do not manufacture the batteries that are inside. I'd attach a picture of the battery but im not digging through the garbage

So my friend moved down from Philly to Florida a couple of months ago. I swear he is single handedly trying to wipe out all of our wildlife while simultaneously poisoning my whole house with bug sprays and traps. Hey, I get it, having a lizard randomly running across the room is a little shocking at first (little lizards like geckos, not iguana monsters LOL). He called me at work one day, and was completely terrified that there was a tree frog on the wall in the living room. IT IS WALKING ACROSS THE WALL BEHIND THE TV!! So I decided that this was the perfect little payback for all of the carnage that he has caused in my house. It is easy to use, and sounds like a cricket. I like that it goes off random. I am having so much fun hearing him search for the cricket in his bedroom. After I placed it under his tv stand, I wished that I did not use the tape because it is so strong that I do not think that it will come off. I guess this would be a cute fun for kids gag too. It is small and easily hidden, and might keep them busy for a while LOL.

Very cheaply made. You can't change the battery. The sound is very low. Most won't hear it. Maybe at night with everything quiet. But it would have to be close. Shipped in an envelope bubble thing. But any weight on top would turn it on. Ordered 2 and 1 had almost a dead battery on arrival. Cheap and poorly constructed.

A bit expensive but.... it works! Sounds like an annoying cricket. Pranked my coworkers on April Fools Day. They were trying to find the cricket and thinking of calling an exterminator! Lol. Great gag gift. Would be good to go visit someone and then slip it under their couch :) I wish these came in a multipack for a cheaper price then I would buy lots and drop them off everywhere

My dad is a prankster and loved this.. messed with all his friends and even a waitress at a restaurant .. works good and can control manually or set for 15 minute intervals
