Loving it so far
This is my first condenser microphone and Iโm loving it. I use it for recording my voiceover. It takes good amount of gain and base of my voice. Just be sure that the surroundings are not too noisy as it may catch noise and distortion. Overall Iโm happy with this condenser.

Perfect and works well with IOS
As a condenser mic, this beats the Blue Yeti for size and performance.

An inconsistent mic
This microphones cord is insanely easy to break, especially paired with the flimsy microphone stand. The cord is insanely rare to replace so you'll literally have to go to Audio Technicas website and order a replacement cord for it (which is the only place you will find this cord from)I would highly recomennd not buying this microphone due to the flimsy cord but if you still want to buy this mic, buy a good microphone arm or microphone stand for it. The sound quality for it IS good but you could probably buy a much more consistent mic with a better cord for the same price.

AT2020USBi: Excellent Quality Microphone to use with iOS, No Monitoring and a Proprietary Cable (Micro-HDMI to iOS Lightning)
Excellent quality microphone. I purchased this for recording remote VO and Podcasts around the country. I typically use my laptop for recording and the AT2020USBi microphone plugs into any USB port. Because I'm traveling, I always want to have a backup recorder with me, just in case. Rather than lugging a second laptop along, I can use the AT2020USBi to plug straight into my iPhone 6+ if I need to. The audio quality is just as good as the laptop in most cases. PLEASE NOTE: Not all recording apps recognize this microphone plugged directly into the iPhone. So, I found "Recorder Plus" by Turbokey Studio, available on the iOS app store. It has a variety of feature and sample rates - but there is never an issue recognizing the source when connecting the AT2020USBi microphone to the phone's Lightning port. I have recorded at 24-bit/48KHz and had beautiful sounding audio with no issues. There is no headphone jack on the microphone to allow you to monitor the audio. Evidently there wasn't enough room for the additional circuitry needed in the mic. Normally, this would not be a problem, but... monitoring your recording directly from your iPhone doesn't work either. Your iPhone mutes the microphone input from playing back in your headphones, just like when making a call. Therefore, a quick test record-and-playback confirmed my audio quality, and I was comfortable recording without direct monitoring. Finally, the greatest advantage of the AT2020USBi is having this microphone connect directly to an iOS device. The disadvantage is the cable (that comes with the microphone) cannot be purchased anywhere else, but through Audio Technica. It is a Lightning plug (for iOS) that plugs into the AT2020USBi with a micro-HDMI connector. This combination of connectors is found nowhere else. Audio Technical will send one for under $20, but it is fruitless to search elsewhere. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP TRACK OF YOUR CABLES. I lost mine after my first trip.

Prob the worse design I've ever seen on any high end electronic device.
Well, when the mic worked, it worked wonderfully, maybe a bit quiet, but clear nonetheless. The rating would have been a one star had the mic itself sucked, but it didn't. So, 2 stars. The reason for such a low rating is due to the inferior engineering and ridiculous use of the cable. I bought this unit because it connected via USB. The very reasoning for me buying this one and not the basic one with a xlr connector and the cable is prone to failure. Just my luck. I coulda saved $100. Yep this thing is $200 and it is basically because of the cable.Let me begin; The main problem is the connector itself is just weak. It is a HUGE weak point for the whole unit. It is located on the bottom and its location makes it really easy for it to be damaged. I have it mounted on a mic stand attached to my table and the stand itself doesn't move much but all it takes is something else bumping into the connection at the bottom just slightly and boom, your recording days are over. The cable itself is a micro-hdmi to USB cable. Yep, a MICRO HDMI to USB-A 2.0. Which isn't something that is made very clear at all on the Amazon sales page.Let me let you in on the secret... These cables do NOT exist outside of the use in this one application for this one specific microphone. (They might be proprietary, I'm gonna ask.) IE, You cannot get a replacement without contacting the manufacturer. Go for it, go look for one. I implore you to try to find this magical cables elsewhere.I would say its the unicorn of cables but unicorns weren't designed by a dolt and are beautiful and special. I'd say it's the leprechaun of cables but leprechauns are funny and bring good luck. This cable caused my blood pressure to go up. Not very magical nor lucky. This cable was meant for people who wanted a portable mic to be able to plug into their laptops. This thing will not last long for someone on the move or travels a lot. Mine was stationary and it broke rather easy. So, I get to contact the manufacturer, AGAIN, to get a replacement. I told them to send 2 last time but they didn't. I will ask for 2 this time as well. I know for certain this will happen again.TLDR; Technical flaw in designing this product's cable and its location causes failure. Can only get replacement cable from Audio-Technica. Consider this when purchasing if you think you run the risk at all of having the plug damaged.
