How do you know the temperature?

There is no temperature control. It just has a power control, with no feedback. So the temperature will change wildly, getting hot when in the holder, and cooling off a lot when soldering. Get something with a digital readout, it is the only way to be sure it has feedback controlled temperature.

Is there any LED light on the unit to indicate if it is powered on?

The switch on mine lights up. Very valuable.

Does ot work with 220v?

The sticker on mine just says 110v. I don’t think it would survive long on 220.
