Excellent Book to start with
Very good book to learn Basics of Python. It feels like a nice ride from beginning to the end.Machine Learning training at its best for beginners. For me, I bought this book to understand the syntax and structure of Python programming before getting too deep and this exactly did what it promised.Highly Recommended

Not useful, would not recommend it.
Don't buy this book if you want to learn, it doesn't have enough Exercises to practice on. I did not find it useful at all. I learned more from 2 YouTube videos than from this book. It's a complete waste of money. Save your money and find videos online or buy a better book from a different author.

Great introduction to python
This book is clear yet concise, giving clear examples to explain about the topics. The exercises too are also quite useful in applying what we have learnt!

Not for beginners
My opinion is that this book is not for newbies. Kalb and other authors have better explanation of concepts. Some are visuals examples. Of Integers, Strings and Floats, Boolean for example. The difference between the Shell and Idle interface is not explained. Neither is how to access the Properties which allows you to color or enlarge text. Why utilize an entire page on how computers and processor work. Has little to do with Python, except its relevance to variables (containers). I thought this would be an addition to my learning library. Am self learning. Hope to learn Python. Have learned HTML, CSS (have my own website), and know Photoshop pretty well. You Tube and W3 Schools plus other sites can help in filling gaps in learning Python. Very disappointed in this book, and am returning it. Very first time ever returning anything to Amazon.

Python for Existing Programmers...
Where do I start...Any book that claims to be for beginners and then includes the following statement, certainly isn't:"Python's high-level built in data structures, combined with dynamic typing and binding, make it very attractive for Rapid Application Development. It supports multiple programming paradigms, including object oriented, imperative, functional and procedural, and has a large comprehensive library."As someone new to programming, that doesn't mean anything. Because of this I would say that this book IS NOT for beginners. I believe a more accurate statement would be to say its for existing programmers who use an alternative language and would like to try their hand at Python. I gave up reading this book and found a great instructional video on YouTube! I would suggest either doing the same or finding an alternative book.
