Maybe - but you'd have to be careful you didn't damage the wire that connects the ear protectors that runs along the head band.

Would these work to protect my ears playing loud instruments like drums?

I'm not sure... these are designed for shooting. They allow you to hear conversations very clearly but reduce sudden loud noises, ie a gunshot down to 82Db (claimed). I don't know how they'd react to continuous loud drum playing. I've seen electronic ear-plugs specifically for musicians on Amazon though which may be worth you looking at.
