This official Minecraft novel is a journey into the unknown! Max and Alison are proof that differences don’t stand in the way of friendship. Max is always on the lookout for a new adventure—even if it means getting into trouble—while Alison prefers to follow the rules. But both of them are fascinated by the beat-up old journal Max finds and the strange gate its secretive author, the Enchanter, describes: a portal to an otherworldly realm of danger called the Nether. After they use the journal’s instructions to craft the portal, Max and Alison squabble over whether to remain safe in the Overworld or to journey into the Nether to find the Enchanter . . . until a fateful accident makes the decision for them. Trapped in a scary new world, Max and Alison find an ally in Freya, a fierce warrior who has been living in the Nether with her beloved wolf, Bunny Biter. With Freya’s help, and with the clues that lie in the pages of the mysterious journal, Max and Alison embark on a quest to find the Enchanter, even as the Nether pushes their skills—and their friendship—to the limit. Theme Park Adventure Minecraft for Beginners Review: Perfect for Young Minecraft Fans! - I bought this book for my son, and he absolutely loved it. He’s a big Minecraft fan, and this story really pulled him in from the first few pages. It’s exciting, easy to follow, and full of adventure — just like the game. It even got him to put down the screen and enjoy reading more, which makes it a win in my book too. Highly recommend for any young Minecraft enthusiast! Review: Good for kids and parents - This is one of our favorites out of the series so far. We weren’t completely satisfied with the ending, but the story itself was good. We plan to read all the books in this series. They’re all so unique!

Can’t put it down.
Bought this for my grandson and he hasn’t put the book down since he received it. To me that’s a winner when you can get a 10-year-old boy to love reading!

Takes a little while to get going, but worth the journey.
This book is a little slow and confusing at first as the author sets up the storyline. However, once it gets going it’s hard to put down. There are a few minor issues with Minecraft game mechanics not quite accurately reflected, but most were easily accepted or overlooked, some should even be added to the game! The loss experienced by the main characters is well illustrated. How they react to it and how it continues to weigh on them is very well done. It’s difficult not to get emotionally involved at certain parts. It’s not too overly descriptive or raw so that it would overwhelm younger readers, but would definitely recommend that parents read through it first if you have sensitive youngsters. The loss of parents is a difficult subject for us all, but the author handles it in a very tasteful and ultimately Minecraftian (?) way. Highly recommended. I’m really hoping to see a follow up book like they just did with Max Brooks’ “The Island.”

14-year old son enjoys the book!
Got this book for my son, and he's really enjoying it. I was worried that it'd be too easy (like a little-kid book) for him, but it's not like that at all. He's almost finished and ready for the others in the series. Definitely recommend for the 'older' kids who like Minecraft!

Read it to your Minecraft fanatic child....
Very well written. I read this to my child and we both enjoyed every minute! If you’ve played Minecraft it will help you understand some of the concepts. We aren’t experts in the game so some things were new lessons - such as the fact that you can’t sleep in a bed in the Nether!
