With Winter Blizzard heading this way I checked all our flashlights. A larger electric lantern was dead. Went online to Amazon and researched a new lantern. With years of camping and canoeing the name Coleman popped up. Knew this was the way to go. Quick delivery and we met the Blizzard blackout in good fashion. Easy and reliable. LED lighting was outstanding and with 3 power settings.

I live in the upstate of SC. We have snow and ice but not like we did over the weekend. In places I would say possibly 2.5 inches of solid ice. I was prepared but wanted another battery operated later and I hit the Jackpot. This later is sturdy, takes 4 d size batteries, and is adjustable lighting on the top of the lantern. It has a blinking mode on it. I love the brightest of the latnern. It does have a nice ruberrised metal handle for hanging

I needed a second emergency light in the event we're in a black out and I settled on this. The unit is very solid feeling, it can easily be hung up, though I personally wish it had a meatier handle. It's real bright-it lights up a room better than my old one. But the goal mostly was to just have two.

It is bright. But for over $40 you would think this is a full sized lantern. It is not.

Fantastic light. This is the emergency lantern to have. We had the original bulb version that lasted 35 years! And only replaced it because the batteries leaked and destroyed the inside - we bought two and got a third for our daughter's apartment. Lights need to work when they need to work, period. This light is the bomb and should last for decades. We like to avoid all-in-one devices that include a light and battery charger, and of course, rechargeable batteries in general. Even today's built-in batteries will certainly fail long before the rest of the device has failed. 4 D cell batteries last for huge amounts of time, especially on lower light output, and of course, you can use rechargeable batteries. For emergency purposes these lanterns are amazing. We stuck with the 800 lumen version because it optimizes battery life and provides the light output of a standard 60 watt light bulb. The battery protection feature is fantastic. Buy it and keep a pack of batteries readily available. A perfect lantern in every regard and it is not possible to have a negative experience with it.

We needed this lantern for whenever the power goes off. This lantern is not too bulky but gives off a very strong light - just what we needed! Yes, the bottom is a bit difficult to take on and off for battery placement - but if you are careful and put the disc back on with the notch fitting into the lantern in the correct way, there is no problem - just be careful and aware of placement.

I read the reviews about the battery thing being an issue and thought those people were just doing it wrong. I read the instructions. I followed the picture and placed the batteries as shown. I attempted to attach the cap. I screwed and screwed but it didn’t screw in. I gently pushed down and screwed. No. I checked the instructions again and inspected and pushed harder. I couldn’t get it on. FINALLY, after pushing very hard I got it to halfway latch but not screw on all the way. Now it won’t come off. I can’t get it to screw on and I can’t get it to screw off. And I didn’t do anything horridly hard. I can’t. I’m an old woman. I don’t have the strength to force things too hard. So not only does the stupid lantern not work - now I’ve lost 4 brand new D batteries inside the thing. Why couldn’t Coleman just stick to the old way that worked so well and so easily? This thing is awful. If someone else can make it work I will update. If not, you can assume I threw it all in the trash and will buy something else. Wish I had my old Coleman’s. THOSE were fantastic.

Lantern little smaller than expected but gives a very bright light. Small but efficient.

Coleman = Superior Quality

Compact and sturdy. I often use it in my farm. Perfect for outdoors as well as indoors. No issues even when exposed to rain. But wipe and dry once under roof. Placement of switch is great. Won't blind you when operating. I use rechargeable batteries, tested for 6 hrs continuous run. It worked well. Be cautious when closing the battery lid. Follow instructions manual to avoid any issues. Since it was import to India, I shelled out more bucks. But trust me, this Coleman lantern is perfect for outdoors and during power outage.

Very handful for my camping. The quality is very good. My son was make a mistake on the battery cover. It was stuck. I thought it is going to finish. But it still working fine. Very good!
