Buy Sewing Activewear: How to make your own professional-looking athletic wear Illustrated by Lundstrรถm, Johanna (ISBN: 9789163961502) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Well explained, lots of useful tios - Brilliant with links to follow on utube Review: A really useful book - This book is a great resource for anyone wishing to sew their own activewear. I've made about 4 pairs of Ninja leggings on a serger and sewing machine using the author's You Tube videos, but I still picked up some really useful extra tips on how to make them longer lasting and look more professional from applying the information in this book. Sure, you can get the information on-line, but personally I like to have this information in book form, at my fingertips (where I can add my own notes) rather than having to search the net every time. Lots of very clear, close-up colour pictures to accompany the explanation, which again, I prefer compared to the videos. OK, there are a few minor grammatical errors in the text but hey, English isn't the author's first language and since I wouldn't be able to write a book in English (leave alone another language) who am I to complain? This is a really good resource and I'm sure it will help me to build upon my skills in all sorts of garments (not just activewear). I'd also like to add that this paperback book is a lovely size and weigh, easy to handle and feels really nice to hold. Not sure what type of paper has been used for the cover and pages, but it feels as though quality products have been used to produce it.

This book is a jam packed resource to add to your sewing library
This is a great book filled with fantastic information and techniques. The section on activewear fabrics fantastic and the techniques are well illustrated. I purchased the printed version and so far it seems to be a sturdy product. There are some places where it appears there is a little bit of text missing, but that doesn't detract from the content. I would totally recommend this book for seamsters who are starting out with sewing activewear and want to learn techniques to really personalise their garments with features they would find in ready-to-wear activewear clothing.

Written by someone who knows from experience.
An excellently, well presented book that has clear illustrations and very easy to read descriptions. Although familiar with many of the contents from years of sewing it was interesting to read to refresh and learn once again the specifics to this type of sewing. Whatever level of skill you may have you will certainly benefit from buying this book.

What a terrific resource for those who sew (or want to sew) their own professional-looking activewear as well as other knit garments. Be aware that this is not a book of patterns, but instead is a book of techniques for sewing activewear - full of all those things you wondered about how to do like getting seams that are stretchy enough, adding gussets to leggings patterns that lacked them, adding ready-to-wear type details, etc. All instructions and explanations are clear and concise, and they are all accompanied with helpful photographs. As I read, I found myself getting excited to sew some more activewear. I've already used the author's tips and advice to try (gasp) flatlocking on my serger and am very pleased with the results. Next, I plan to try the leggings waistband variations on a few pair of yoga leggings. I also enjoyed reading the interviews with some of the movers and shakers in the activewear sewing community. Rarely do I buy full-price books, but I am so glad I treated myself to this one. I am going to be returning to it again and again. (This is also my first purchase of an Amazon print-on-demand book, and the quality is very good. The colors are good, the text is crisp, and the binding feels like it will hold together well.)
